We just experienced an earthquake this afternoon. It was a 6 magnitude earthquake. At first, I thought I was just dizzy but then I notice that the water on the basin were moving and the kitchen utensils were creating sounds, then I realized there is an earthquake happening. I feel frightened but I stayed calm. It lasted for 30 seconds and it is indeed frightening. I can say that compare to other countries we are still lucky because no reports had been made like what happened to Chile.
How about you? Have you experienced an earthquake? What did you do that time?

I experienced an earthquake when I was in Indonesia. Me and my friends was eating in the food court at one mall, and it was on 6th floor. Suddenly the building start shaking, so did the table and everything on the table is moving around. When everybody start screaming earthquake, we ran as fast as we can, didn't want to take a chance getting trap if the mall start falling down.
We are so busy running, we even forget to pay for the food.!

I have been in one earth quake as they are very rare here in uk,
and to be honest I loved it he he he but I think I am a bit strange in that way as I want to experience everything in this life.
I am thinking of going storm hunting next year in the states looking for twisters as I would love to experience everything nature has to offer.

Earthquakes are really scary. I have experienced so many earthquakes before, each ranging from just 10 seconds. It creeps me out when chandeliers are swaying and lights are flicking.

I was in the North Ridge earthquake back in the 90s. It was like a 6.7 but it was definitely memorable. I've never experienced anything like it since but I'm glad. Its pretty sad what a legit strong earthquake can do.

I've never experienced an earthquake, but I am sure it isn't a positive experience. My grandmother has been through one and she told me that earthquake makes a person feel completely helpless, because you can't do anything to stop it. All you can do is run outside and keep away from the buildings I think. It's good that you've managed to survive that recent earthquake.

There was an earthquake here yesterday. Almost all people here in the office felt it, but I didn't feel a thing. I hope there would be no more earthquake, or at least no high-intensity one. I'm afraid of earthquakes because it's one calamity that is hard to escape from.

Yes we had experienced earthquake many times ,fortunately it was not never the disastrous one ever. What we did was left everything and came out of our home.Although the magnitude was 6.8 . Our friends and family members from different places started calling about our welfare. It was quite frightening also.I noticed that ceiling fan started moving on its own . Once we were sleeping and we were woken up and felt that the bed was moving.Fortunately we were all safe but it was quite frightening.

Hi annierose! I hope you are O.K. I experienced earth quake at the age of 16. I was at school at that time and a function was going on school. At first, I also thought that I am feeling dizzy but then everything started vibrating. Well we it was not scary because we were in open at that time. It was also a 6 magnitude earth quake. It was a nice experience. Our function also stopped for few minutes.

Honestly i believe everyone already experienced an earthquake its just a matter of how strong that particular earthquake you experienced.Im really scared of earthquakes because i know how destructive an the said event is. Killing thousands destroying homes buildings thats what it can do, i even forgot to mention a potential tsunami when a strong quake hits the sea.If i have it my way i dont want to experience another earthquake for a very long time ;)

HI! where was this earthquake? wher do you live? I am in Hawaii, and yes, we do have earthquakes every now and then. Our earthquakes are ususally due to the volcano on the island. We recently had one, it was strong, but only lasted a few seconds. There was an earthquake over 3 years ago, and that was one of the bigger ones i have ever experienced. It was in the early morning and it woke us up, the house was shaking violently and the drawers flew out of our dresser, a mirror also fell as well as other things around the house. there was some damage around the island, but nothing to major, and luckily no one was hurt. Earthquakes can be very scary!

Yes, I've experienced a few before. The first one I remember was when I was living in the Bay Area when I was growing up. I had been in school (3rd or 4th grade), taking a test at the time, when it hit. One of the students in the classroom calmly said "earthquake" and we all went under our desks, like we had been taught to do so many times before. It wasn't huge, I think it was around a 4. Though I could be wrong as when I looked it up the only 2 that I found in that time frame were over a 6.0.
Another was back in '89. However, with this one I was about 100 miles away from it. It was another that had hit the Bay Area, but it was even bigger this time. A magnitude of 7.1. I felt it even where I was at...
My mom and I had been grocery shopping at the time. We just got done paying for them when it hit. I tried to grab the bags, but I had a hard time. I didn't think it was an earthquake though. If anything I thought it was me. LOL When my mom and I got home we noticed the pool at the apartment complex we'd been living at was sloshing around like crazy. Still neither of us thought anything of it. If anything I thought some of the kids from the complex had goofed around to make it do that. Once we got inside our place I received a call from a friend of mine. All she really said was that the bay bridge fell down. I couldn't believe it so I turned on the news and that was when I found out about the earthquake.
I went to the Bay Area about a month after it happened, although I was there for other reasons. A freeway that had once been there was there no more. In fact, it was still in the clearing stages when I saw it. I also saw some damage in a building that my father worked at. All of it left me with an eerie feeling inside.
It's funny, I used to not be so scared of earthquakes when I was little. But after that last one, well, it just makes me glad I don't live there anymore. Oh, I know that they can happen anywhere, but still, I'd rather not be where they are known to be if I can avoid it.
Happy mylotting!

Hiya annierose,
We have an earth tremor every so often some of them are quite small and more frecuent. We are right on an active fault line here so we have little jolts too. One time in fact more than once I have been sitting in a Chair and its shook a bit those are the most frecuent. One time I was five floors up and the television was dancing along with the Walls it lasted about two minutes and the Chair I was sitting in was moving around too.
