Reading is always a good thing to do and it really enlarge your scope of knowledge. However, reading can be a burden when you have so much to read and not enough time to do so.Many years ago,I have seen a classmate who loves to point his finger to each line and keep on reading like that.I was sitting besides him and I feel that he read much faster than normal people do.I think it maybe a kind of speeding reading techniques he was using at that times Well, since I don't know too much on this skills .Maybe anybody know that can share with me and all the mylotter,so we all can improve our reading speed and enjoy reading more.

I can't read well if I try to read an entire line. I have learned and taught a method called "chunking" though. You look at several words at a time, like each piece. It's great when you want a great overview of the material without looking at each word. The more you practice, the faster you can read and still comprehend.

One method I sometimes use (if my aim is just to get the jest of the story) is to reading the word in the middle of the line. Peripheral vision will fill in the rest of the words. Once you get used to this you can read a chapter in a few minutes.

I recommend skip reading. The aim of it is to grasp the central thought of an article instead of paying more attention on each word. There are several points, 1 reading line by line or even part by part, not word by word. 2.Skipping some description or example if you want to save time.3 Just read sentence which tell the authors' idea. But the prerequisite is to have a large amount of vocabulary and being proficient at this skill. The only way is to practice more. Wish you have better reading experience=)

People who read fast tend to have a lot of practice at it. The best way I know to learn how to read faster is just that, practice it. Don't just read on the internet, that could make your ability to read faster suffer. Read EVERYTHING, and read ALL THE TIME! Read newspapers at the breakfast table, novels before bed, and everything inbetween. I'm an avid reader and I read 2 or 3 books a week. I can read that fast because I read a lot, and there were no tips or tricks that helped me get there other than that.

I'd like to know the techniques in speed reading too. I know of persons who can finish a book in one setting and I really wonder how they do it and wish that I could do it too so that I could read more books in my spare time.

Hi there I think the only thing that I can advise you is to read, read and read.I dunno if I am a speed reader because I can finish a thick book like Twilight less than 24 hours or a Novel in 2-3 hours. I read fast when I really like the book, it's like I can't wait to get to the next page.I don't do the point thing but you could see my eyes moving from left to right when I do read. I think the key here is that you must have a passion for reading and if you like what you read then there is no way that you can wait for a month to find out what is going to happen next on your favorite character right? If you keep on reading what you want first then eventually you will develop your own way of finishing books in record time and you can do that on any book that you read. Good luck and Happy reading !

wow i could never speed read. when i read, i never skip. if i missed a line, a word, anything, i would read the whole paragraph again. i just love words and how sentences are formed. and when i come across an extremely well written sentence, i will be very impressed that i would read the sentence again and again. i read every page.. even the dedications but i never used to read at all. only in these few years i started to pick up on reading and comparing how fast i read two years ago and now, i used to spend a month to finish one novel, but now i spend a week reading every written word in the book. not fast i know, but i seem to have improved

I wish I can do that. HOwever, I am different. It would take months for me to finish a book because I love to read aloud. Yes, I like to feel the words in my mouth and articulate them like I was the one speaking in the book. Weird, right? But that is jus how I read. I enjoy reading aloud and I do it without pressure. I just read and enjoy saying the beautiful words used by the authors.
