Can't Google on Firefox

Has this happened to you? For a few weeks now there are times when I can't Google on my Firefox browser. Whenever I type a search query the 'Sorry Page' comes up saying that my computer has been sending out automated searches.
Spybot S&D was able to detect problems the first week I ran it, and everything was fine. Afterwards though the problem came up again. And Spybot wasn't able to detect anything. So I used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, which found some malicious registry entries, and afterwards I was able to Google again. Then recently the problem came up again, couldn't Google without the Sorry page appearing.
Spybot was able to flag the MyWebSearch adware. Have uninstalled it but there's a MyWebSearch folder that just can't be deleted, renamed, or zipped. I've also noticed that Google acts up after 12am, ie, whenever the system time reflects a new day. But it has also happened at other hours. Firefox has also recently reported an exploit on the 3.6 version of their software, so I upgraded it, thinking that maybe it's related to my Google search problems. The problem's still there thought.
I've just switched to Google Chrome, and the problem hasn't come up (hopefully, ever) again. I'm not sure though if the malware is really gone or Chrome just doesn't flag it. In the back of my head I have this suspicion that maybe Google is just doing this on purpose to get people to switch to Chrome. But then again that's just conjecture.
Right now I've decided to just boot in Ubuntu. My roommate uses this PC for PTC and I'm thinking since that's a very vulnerable spot for malware might as well switch to Linux. Would want to resolve this problem though, so I can switch back to Windows when I want to. Anybody has the same problem, or know how to resolve this?
