On my way home, I can still vividly remember a couple laughing out loud while walking. They were both blinds. I was just wondering why these couple with their disability still seems to be happier than other people who are normal and in their car but with a sour face.

Hi there phoenix! Sorry but I don't agree that when someone is smiling, it means he is happy. There are those who just smile just for the sake of it. Or just to please someone even though in real life he is suffering a lot. But I respect your opinion, we all see things in a different light. Stay happy!

There is no measurement for happiness. I guess a person can be truly happy if he is contented with what he has whether it is enough or not. If the blind couple had a great happy time together, why can't we normal people, right? But it's not as simple as that. Even rich people had their own share of sadness. Their problems maybe even be worst than us. So being rich does not guarantee a person to be happy. I guess happiness in it's true meaning is when you obtain the highest level of pleasure your heart could not understand. I guess it's the priceless time you've shared with your love ones. The laughter and sharing makes it wonderful. It could not compare to richness and extravagance in material things. It's the feeling of contentment deep down in someone's heart. That not even problems can interfere with that feeling. I can say I am happy right now. Are you too donclaudio? Happy mylotting!

why in the world should blind people be unhappy. I think maybe you are not sure where happiness comes from. It comes from deep inside. Look at the bright side, the blind can't see the ugliness. The deaf cant hear people b*tching. I don't think of these as disabilities, maybe they are blessings?

Maybe your right in the sense that if you will not see and hear bad things, you will not be affected and not be sad. But how about your feelings? Being blind is a blessing?. . . . Maybe! ! !

my mom always tells me that in simplicity, happiness is sought more easily compared to a life of luxury... I think it's easier for simple people to be happy and appreciate life with its simple gifts...

Their disability makes them appreciate positive things easier than what some people would who don't have any disability would. Btw...How didn't they walk under a bus or something? Did they have a dog? Happy myLotting

Acceptance maybe is the keyword to happiness. I do believe that its hard to be blind but as you said disability makes them to be more positive thinker. You will be amazed how blind people here in my country lives. many of them are unguided walking along with their sticks. they also ride public conveyances alone and pay the exact fare by mere touching their money bills and coins.
