We'll Meet Again........ Maybe

I have read that contemplation of an afterlife is a distraction from the here and now. Do you believe that we'll go on somewhere when we die, or is this it. If it's the latter what do you do to make every minute count - if the former, where will we go and will we meet up there with family and friends?

hi pikey long time no see here, I do believe that we have an afterlife as I believe in God but what it will be like I do not know, so am t rying to be happy here and now, in spite of not wanting to be in this tiresome retirement center. As long as I have my mylot I am doing great, and besides we each have to make our own happiness, nobody can do that for us.I am not going to worry about it as I am determined to enjoy each day as it comes. I just had a small outing withmy best friend yesterday so am happy to have seen her. We sort of buoy each other up as we are both elderly, both diabetics, both born in November, both married in March, and both have computer nerd sons too. so we have a lot of fun together. she has been my link to the ou tside world. living here with so manyother oldsters seems too insulated to me. I am used to being with friends of all ages. he he.

I dont think anybody can say with absolute certainty where we go when we die other than in the dirt or incinerator. However, my belief is that there is a heaven and a hell. I believe that if you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, will go to heaven. I don't think you meant this as a deep religious discussion so I will leave it at that. This is my belief. I do respect others beliefs as well.

Nicely put, laglen. That's about the same train of though I have even though I'm not very religious.

Heck no. I rarely post deep discussions. I don't subscribe to the notion of Hell, I think that was dropped on us as a way of societal control. But if religion eases your way then why not? It's all good to me. So long as it's not forced on others as the ONLY way.

I don't know where I been or what I've done..and right now only deal with the here and now and try to keep my nose clean enough to survive it. If we dwell in the past to much we miss out on to much of the now as you said. Although it would be fun to just know what I did or what happened in a past life..which I am sure a lot of people would want to know that information.

If you were here before Becky then it was as a very good person. You are now too.

I don't know but I am planning to be a sloth in my next life, or a man, as the 10 year old pointed out recently. If there is an afterlife I'm going to come back and haunt my girls, at least the two youngest but before that I plan to grow old disgracefully.

The 10 year old will be a man one day. I hope that you're training him hard!

I don't know because I haven't been there yet? Either way, I try to make every minute count, because it could be my last. I do believe in karma, that at some point in our existence we will get back our due. ie. if we have been very, very bad we will get a spanking, or if we have been very, very good, we will be rewarded. But I don't concern myself heavilly about it, because what will be will be.

I must have been bad already Annie. I get spanked all the time.... maybe I shouldn't enjoy it so much!

Hey p1key! I just got finished reading a Book of Dreams, by Sylvia Browne, who is a reknowned Psychic! She talked quite a bit about the afterlife! It was quite interesting! She believes that we all are going "Home" (as I believe she refers to Heaven) and also believes that we are all reborn over and over again and have many lives! Confusing, scary, weird, but I have seen her on tv and believe she is the "real deal"! I am going to real her book about the "Afterlife" so I will get back to you when I find out more information. It is unbelievable, but yet believable! She is an incredible Psychic, one that I do believe because I have seen her "work" and she is endorsed by Police, FBI, Montel Williams, and many other estute persons of intelligence and high profile!

Hi P1ke I would like to think there is but somehow I do not think there is, once I am gone I reckon that is it But I would like to imagine that one Day I will see the People I love again like my Friend Carol who passed away on March 1st just like that, which I am still trying to figure out why I like to think that she is somewhere now where no one can hurt her and where she is happy, where she can see the Spring as we where both looking forward to the Spring I don't know if there is but I really hope so because when I go I would still like to be able to watch and guide my Children, let them know I am still with them and love them more then anything xxx

That's a lovely sentiment Gabs. I am sure that if there is something more that you'll be able to give that guidance somehow.

I believe that anything is possible, but it's still a mystery, and because it's still a mystery, it is important to make every moment last, for as long as we are all alive. I've also lost some people very suddenly (illness, accidents, etc.) and know that it's important to live every minute to the fullest.

I agree. I often think how poor I am at living my life to it's fullest - but the important thing is to be content. If you're not that then there is something very amiss.

I don't particularly believe in an afterlife, but it's a nice idea. I'd rather make the most of things now just in case that's all there is. PS am I the only person not getting notifications this morning?

I don't get them anyway - I switched them off as I got too many. Enjoy life and maybe we'll meet again one day.

I prefer to makes every minute count regardless if there's an afterlife or not. Life is such a short period when compared to eternity. I figure if we live well, the 'beyond' will take care of itself...if there is one.

It is according to our deeds here on earth if after dying we will be in heaven or in hell. For whatever you sow here on earth is what you reap especially that kind of sow is a sin then we will reap the judgment after life. Therefore we must confess to ourselves that Jesus is the living God and Savior and believe it in our heart than we will be saved and we will be in heaven after life on earth... God bless us all

well i certainly believe we will go to a definite place(hell or heaven) because if there is no specific/designated for us to meet with our departed loved ones we are at a total lost, i mean clueless about anything, no guidance and confusion will arise(hahhaha even in afterlife you still be confused =P)and most especially there will be no place to rest.

Maybe we all have a defined path to follow that doesn't involve people that we have known here. Welcome to myLot.

tnx ^____________^ let me add an opinion, we can never be alone because God created us together with the people we around us and so as to the place where we will go, because it a judgment of how we influence others life.

Hello, you are asking if i believe we'll go somewhere when we die? and where will we go? and will we meet up with family and friends. About me i know when we die we dont go anywhere, as what the bible say at Genesis 3:19 " from dust you are and to dust you will return" about if we meet up with family and friends, will it depend on you. About on what do you do to make it every minute count? its up to you to do so , coz God give us freedom control our life and it depend how we use that freedom for good or for bad.Now we need to search more about God and his porpose...

It'd be nice if there was something "better" to go on to, but who knows? Ghost Whisperer and other such shows aside, no one can prove that they are in contact with "the great beyond". Seems to be a one-way street.

Oh this site is full of people that are convinced that they are "in touch" just peruse the Religion board. Personally I do believe in God, but I struggle with religion.

I don't believe this is it. In the grand scheme of things, our lives are just a brief moment in time. I can't believe that God created us just to live out our lives for eighty years or so and then nothing more. I also don't think believing in the afterlife and making every living moment count should be mutually exclusive. Why not squeeze every last bit of enjoyment out of life and then worry about what happens after you die later on down the line?

Do you prepare for a journey? Then why not for the afterlife... if there is one of course. Welcome to myLot.
