These days everybody's home there's computer and televisions. The thing is that are they harmful to us. From such monitors even Laptop, Scientist called PEMR (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Radiation) which at close range disturb the balance of all living cells. It says the effect will persist several hours after the computer or tv sets has been turn off. But have not heard any cases of that.
As far as my personal experience, it will gives pressure in my (your) eyes, if we sit regularly in front of computer, it makes me tired. It's better to take a rest for few minutes with in.
Scientist said: several other problems has been observed in people who spend more then 4 hour a day in close proximity, stress, headaches, insomnia, eye strain, eye sight decline, decline in libido, disorder in mensuration cycles, hormonal disturbances....and so on.
Sounds dangerous, right? Do you believe in those things? What is your experience? If you have some tips? then share. what are safe ways to use computer monitors? I think wearing glass is better.

This is 100 percent true , i believe it. And yeah it is very dangerous. The tips i can give are:
1. Stay on twenty centimeters from the monitor.
2. There are computer glasses , buy one pair and use them.
3. For every hour you stay on the computer , go away for minimum of fifteen minutes.
4. If your eyes are tired. Make some exercises for them. Read a book , stay out of your home , do something that is not done with some sort of technique .
5. And finally don't use your computer more then 2-3-4 hours.

Whenever I use my main desktop computer which has a CRT monitor, my eyes do burn if I stare at the screen for too long. Cleaning the screen of dust is a big help as is looking away as frequently as possible.
At the same time, sometimes, your vision can change unexpectedly, so it's always important to see an eye doctor every two years. I remember this one time I had hopped onto my computer, and within ten minutes, my eyes were burning and watering. I went to my eye doctor, and sure enough my vision had changed. I got the corrective lenses and problem was solved.
These days I spend more time on my netbook, which is more relaxing on my eyes. I
still go on the desktop computer now and then, but my main reason is because it's quite slow these day. I'll have to find time outside of school work and job hunting to really sit down and clean it out.

When you think of a person using a computer for an extended period of time, you think of a person stuck in the same position day after day after day. Hour upon hour upon hour. In which case after doing so, this can eventually result in problems. Eye strain can result for a number of reasons, stairing at a fixed position for a long period of time can be one result. Not having suffecent light for the eye to focus on is another.
Weather the blame can be placed directly on the monitior I do not know, but like all devices should not be taken lightly. Do I think its dangerous? No. How you use it is dangerous. If you don't take steps to move around and protect yourself then you open yourself up to more problems.
A majority of the health problems resulting from computter use are stairing, and how you sit, and how you position yourself to type. How often you type or use the mouse. How close or how far you can sit from the screen etc.

i started playing computer games and video games since maybe around 6 year old. since i can remember, i have been spending a lot of time in front of computer monitorssince then and now i am 28.
daily, i spend over 5 to 8 hours with some short breaks that lasts around 5 mins. except lunch breaks. i do a lot of things with my laptop. that 5-8 hours is a significant decline since i got married. during uni years, i spend over 12 hours daily in from of a computer monitor
like i mentioned, i am 28 now and i don't wear glasses. i don't think i have over the normal amount of stress normal people have.. never had any problem that needed medical advice related to stress. i think i am pretty much normal, except for a little underdeveloped interpersonal skills.
a point maybe worth mentioning, my favourite beverage is carrot juice

Yeah, u are right PEMR is really bad for our health. Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Radiation even cause various diseases. But... we live in the 21 Century, the Century of New Technology!and due to scietists inventions we can prevent ourselves against all these harmful radiations.
I'd like to share with u a unique device invented by Russian scientists. This device is called Functional State Corrector. It's intended to protect against external aggressive electromagnetic radiations and...moreover...it solves other problems...

Depends how you use it. If you abuse sure will have some consequences but everything that is abused isn't so good.
I work with monitors in rooms with a bit or no light since 3 years ago, and I went to the doctor last year and he told me my eyes was ok.

Hi Vine,
It's a misconception that computer monitors emit harmful radiation that can damage eyes. Accordingly, fluorescent lights give off more ultraviolet radiation than computer screens. The amount of radiation a person receives from a computer monitor is not nearly high enough to cause eye damage like cataracts.
But even if you feel it is harmful then the best ways to reduce headaches and other body aches associated with computer monitors are positioning the screen so it isn't above eye level, keeping the screen clean and reducing glare by adjusting the lights.
Thanks

The old CRT monitors emit different quantities of radiation and they are not bright enough for you to reduce the eye strain, but the newer LCD monitors does not emit radiation at all and they are brighter. But still watching at a particular place for a long time without changing the distance produces eye strain so whenever you work try getting eyes from display from time to time to feel okay.

our body naturally have a tolerance capacity which do naot require any external help.
But , problem comes when there is excess of things even crossing the tolerance limit of body .
after doing that we try to search for cures.

Any kind of rays that go into your body cause a damaging effect. Be sure you have such protections, eye glass, screen glass or any kind which prevent all types of harmful rays go into your body especially those positive ions causing stress and headache which will cause anyone weakness and fatigue as well. Get relax with interval of 30 min.and drink water.

i'm sure they are harmful. i get easily tired while working on my pc than on working without it. but it's hard now not to use it as i have to you use it a lot while working. i make sure the study light is not too bright or too dim. i've since used fluorescent lamps. i've rearranged the tables in my room. the pc is not too high nor too low now. so that puts a lot of stress on my neck and shoulders off. i'm looking for a glass or a film that fits my screen to be pasted on to reflect the harmful rays. i'm looking for tips to improve on.

You can go to the US Environmental Protection Agency to verify what you're saying (not referral link http://www.epa.gov/radtown/tv-computer.html). It's partly true if you're using a CRT tube, but if you're using flat screens you don't have the production of x-rays that can be dangerous. The problem with the other screens is that they emit light (in the blue range of the spectrum) and activate your brain to stay awake and consequently you become tired, this is a very different phenomenal compared to CRT screens (you can read an article about that in new york times - not referral link http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/21/fashion/21SPY.html). I would like to see your sources of information... Cheers.

Well, indeed the computer minitor has some negative effect on our health.More importantly, the extent of negative effect depends on how we use the computer. With the development of technology, our PC or laptop become more high-quality and lower harmful radiation. But if you don't use your computer in a correct way,it will be seriously harmful to your health. So here are my suggestions.Finish your work or study in a minimum time.If you have to sit in front of the computer for a long time, you should make sure to go out for interval. if you can overlook something quite far away from you, that will be better.Sometimes,we have to sit in front of the computer for a entire day,it's very harmful. We should pay more attention to our body.Doing sport is one of the best way to exercise ourselves and make us healthier and dynamic.
Have a nice day!

CRT monitors are the one that are dangerous to human's health. It emits Radiations most especially if is already more than 3 years. It also affects the eyes causing blurred vision upon too much exposure into it. LCD monitors however eliminates the risk of CRT due to its new way of projecting displays. LCD monitors doesn't emit radiations and is an eye friendly.

I heard that from a friend sometime ago too. I mean that monitors of television sets and personal computers can be really harmful to your health. And nowadays there are alot of innovation in the market addressing the health problems posed by those said appliciance. I think we just need to be careful and cautious of how we use and handle this kinds of danger.Because we cant afford to not use the tv or the computer in our everyday life ;)
