Moomin is home, with a sore behind. Do you check your pets health?

Moomin is home again, with a sore bum and sulking under the desk. I had to trick him into his carrier with some chicken but once he was tucked up snug we headed off to the vet. Fortunately our vet is familiar with Moomin and his little tricks and was quick to make sure he was a happy cat before giving him a check over. He suspects Moomin may have been fighting and has a small infected bite. It was so small I never noticed it at all, which made me feel really guilty. However, the vet said there is nothing to worry about and he gave him an antibiotic shot and we have a course of tablets to put into his food. Phew what a relief, I'm so glad I took him to the vet when I did, especially as I hadn't noticed the little bite at the base of his tail. It made me wonder, perhaps I should check him over nose to tail more often. After all, he does get himself into some scrapes and often comes off worse in a ruckus in the garden. Do you check your pets over now and again, just to ake sure they are ok and unharmed?

I try to, I really do, but I also put off going to the vet because I'm already $155 in the hole with them now for Tuti's surgery - it was $175, but I took Chalube and $50 to the vet and that covered his $30 visit and some of Tuti's surgery. I know Scamp is worrying a sore on his shoulder, but I haven't grabbed him yet...

I musgt admit vet bills are a big worry for us too, I was lucky with my vet yesterday, it only cost me £25 last night. It's not always easy to check cats over though is it hun

I am so glad to hear that you got him checked and that it wasn't really anything too serious. Hopefully the shot he got and the tablets clear everything right up. We don't have a cat, but our dog is an indoor so we don't really check her over a whole lot, just every month or so I will look for anything that seems different or abnormal! I haven't ever found anything in between vet visits though thank goodness!

It didn't occur to me that Moomin might have been hurt, I will definitely be checking him over a lot more often.

Tuti had some kind of growth/tumor on the inside of her mouth and it had to be removed.
