Beauty Within

What is beauty for you? Is it solely based on the outside appearance of a person - tantalizing eyes, kissable lips, pointed nose, sexy body?
While I was arranging the books at home, I saw a book entitled Self-Empowerment. As i browsed its pages, I found a chapter that discussed about beauty. I was inspired to share it on this discussion.
"True beauty is long lasting and is never destroyed by age. True beauty is reflected not in physical features but in spiritual qualities like love, peace and contentment."
I definitely agree with these words. Indeed spiritual beauty inspires us more than the physical beauty does. Physical beauty inspires us too but more of a form of attraction. However the beauty within us, if enhance more and more, can make us more beautiful inside and outside. It will show and reflect in the aura.

Be genuine.. i didn't give preference to the appearance of a person..because for me the definition of beauty..the perons who is purge inside in his/her soul..it has reason..beauty didn't stay for long time as a soul remain same throughout the life..and one should not be proud for their nice appearance..
However i accept you don't bother how u looks
....

Beauty is relative. What is beautiful for me, may not be beautiful for you or for someone else. Likewise, I may not agree with what you think is beautiful for you. Anyhow, since we are created in a very unique and different way, it really boils down to how we feel and carry yourself. Feeling is believing. I think you look attractive to people if you are confident and feel beautiful. It is how you compose yourself that gives energy to attract and see you as what you want to be seen from the odds. Also, I have seen a reality show on TV about women who went on makeover. After 8 hrs. of doing just about everything with the help of some people in cosmetic industry, i couldn't believe the change and what they had become. Therefore, I could also say that being beautiful needs effort from within. We need to utilize what we have and what we can do to enhance our outside appearance. After all, I have always been a firm believer that there is no ugly person.

you are right that beauty is relative. however, can you say that the person has a good character just by seeing his/her physical appearance? i don't think so. so i am a firm believer that character is more important the outside appearance of an individual. yes, God created us in his own image, therefore we are all beautiful physically. As the bible says, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." We are creation of God, we also need to imitate God's character - the goodness, the kindness, and if possible all the good traits. However no one is perfect. Let's just do our best to be as good as Him as possible. thanks for the response. God bless!

hahaha! you have a funny point here. those actors/actresses/models are paid because of course of their appearance. they should really invest on their appearance since it is their income source. you get it? but how about mother theresa who helped the poor? is she sexy? young? it's her character who make her famous and known world-wide. let's not forget also the heroes who sacrifice their lives for our freedom.

You are correct, inner beauty is more important than physical beauty. In the book entitled The Little Prince, authored by Antoine Saint de Exupery, it is said that "what is essential is invisible to the eye." I believe it is so because no matter how beautiful is your face, or how sexy is your body, if you have an ugly character.. people will not value you as you should be valued. And it is true that inner beauty does not fade over a long period of time as when compared to physical beauty. People and of course God will always appreciate your inner qualities more than your outer.

Hi kyel! Yes I hope so too. Nowadays, i observe that most people have grown to value the physical qualities/ physical appearance more than inner beauty. Many have undergone liposuctions, facelifts, enhancements, etc. There is nothing wrong with these but i hope we also see to it that we develop or enhance the beauty of our characters as well. sadly, if you based beauty on the inside you ll see fewer beautiful people. try seeing through the gestures of the people around you. they smile and greet with a happy face but sometimes these are nothing more than a fake gesture to hide their true self. and most of the time they re beautiful on the outside.

there's no problem in seeing few beautiful people for me. i really look in the character of people rather than just looking on their smiles, faces, outside look. Looks are deceiving. Even if someone smiles at you, it does not mean he/she is good. You have to know well the person before judging his/her personality.

beauty is not only in qualities you seen but its is also within. having a beautiful character really adds to whatever personality you have. you are really beautiful if your beautiful outside and have a good heart. what you've seen can be fade like beautiful face but the qualities you have within cannot be taken from you. if you have really have a beauty within it will really reflects in you.

i agree with you. having a good character within makes us more beautiful. it is reflected on the aura of the person. i know people with beautiful faces that do not have character/good attitude that makes them reflect an ugly aura. thanks for the response.

Good character is great, but without physical likeness, it doesn't matter ...
To take care of yourself, and stay fit is a sign of respect towards society, THAT is what I think... say I'm shallow I care less, but I don't like being surrounded by ugly fat people, I'll never paint a fat person not even if they pay me, very uninspiring and gross to paint...

Of course for me beauty is all about looks, the personality is important but it comes next after physical aspect, you won't see me dating a fat girl -__-
I'm sexy and I work out to stay like that
SO if I attract the girl...I expect my girl to ATTRACT me not disgust me with her fat belly !!! RIGHT ?

I feel you have a spiritual bent of mind - yes we are living in a beautiful world and everything is beautiful here. Provided you see in the right direction.This is gods creation and who are we to say this is not beauty and that is not beauty.Just for self satisfaction we utter this is beauty.
God is great who has give a mind to the humans who can specify beauty and not other creatures.
Many in this world consider only external beauty - because it is visible practically which can be utilized. But if you dive deep in to humans nature and see the quantum of love he has and good habits which makes his life enjoyable not harming others - I consider this is real beauty.
