Correct me if i am wrong, but i have read that declawing is pretty much an American thing. It is something what people do without actually realizing what they are doing to their beloved animal. In Europe and in other parts of the world, it is ILLEGAL.
I have seen the step by step procedure of how it was done, and i got sick to the stomach after watching it. It is so inhuman! The poor thing is so helpless!
How about in your country, is cat declawing legal? Do your Vets practice it? Have you seen a poor declawed cat ever? Have you ever seen how it is done ...

Declawing? i think im doing something like trying to cut the sharp part of my cat's claws but not the entire claw itself. I bet that will hurt alot, i mean even if im just taking a part of my cat's claw i can see that its hurting him alot what more if the whole thing will be removed, poor cat indeed, they should stop doing that its really inhumane

"Declawing is an inhumane, unnecessary procedure that has many alternatives. It is never in the cat's best interest. With declawing, we are interfering with a species nature because of our own whims, mis-conceptions, misinformation, and sometimes, laziness." " ~ Neil Wolff, DVM, Co-Founder of AVAR
"The consequences of declawing are often pathetic. Changes in behavior can occur. A declawed cat frequently resorts to biting when confronted with even minor threats. Biting becomes an overcompensation for the insecurity of having no claws. Bungled surgery can result in the regrowth of deformed claws or in an infection leading to gangrene. Balance is affected by the inability to grasp with their claws. Chronic physical ailments such as cystitis or skin disorders can be manifestations of a declawed cat's frustration and stress." ~ David E. Hammett, DVM ~
Two quotes above are from vets who have started the pro-claw revolution.
My husband and I have 3 cats - Cammie, Cosmo and our newest baby
We also have a 2 year old. When we got our last kitty as a stray, people were just flabbergasted that we wouldn't declaw her. They kept telling us she'd scratch the baby blase blase blase. We didn't declaw Cammie or Cosmo, and we certainly weren't going to declaw our new kitty
Declawing is cruel, inhumane and illegal in many countries.

I live in the US and it is legal here unfortunately. I believe its inhumane as you are actually removing the last bone of the finger in order to keep the nail from growing. I have a declawed cat that I rescued after someone else declawed him and them dumped him outside. He is still a friendly cat but it is very sad he is declawed and even sadder that he was left outside without a way to defend himself. He is now one of my indoor cats. All safe and sound.

Fortunately, it is not practiced here in the Philippines (yet..) nor seen one here. Claws are part of a cat's arsenal and I don't think it is right to remove it. I read CATFANCY, magazine for Cat parents and they find it so repulsive that California banned this practice.
