I am very irritated today...i was doing a survey from Global test market.....and what irritated me?....i completed much part of the survey and at last in the formal questions they asked me my height in meters and centimeters....i wrote only in cms (157 cms) and tried to move ahead, but they said to write in both the places, so i just converted 157 cms into 1.57 m and submitted, but they again and again gave me a note that one of your answer is invalid, and i had to leave the survey just for the reason that my that answer was not accepted, ...what was the problem, can anyone tell?....

The rate you entered maybe not acceptable by the system. You know I was before with global test , and if I'm not mistaken, I took more than ten surveys from them but got nothing even a single cent. So I quit.

Impossible to say what the problem was. I find that many surveys are incorrectly programmed or documented. When I come across a problem, I always send a message to support saying exactly which survey I was completing, what the problem was and on exactly which page. It is almost always a problem which every person who completes that survey will encounter so the survey designer needs to know as soon as possible, otherwise the results will be worthless.

11 year olds are often brighter than us stale-brains when it comes to things like that. It is often blindingly obvious to them (and we end up being just silly old fools in their estimation!).

They probably wanted feet and inches, as you implied there were two places to put in the height. I know my height in both metric and British measures. [I happen to be 180 centimetres which is 5 feet 11 inches. I noticed in an episode of "Bones" someone said the person whose skeleton it was that the height was 180 centimetres, someone asked what that was in American measure and she said 5 foot 6 inches which I immediately knew was wrong.] 157 cm is about 5 ft. 2 in. It is also possible they wanted 1 metre, 57 centimetres. I would find this strange though, but who knows.

There are two things i can think of. you got the conversion wrong or you wrote it wrong. Often when you fill in those blanks, you cannot put any special characters such as a "." in them even though that's how you would write it if you were doing so on paper. Some websites can be real particular about that.

there was no need to convert, i had to write 1 in meters and 57 in cms column...they were not separate but the same thing to be written in different boxes...so i didnt need to write 157 in cms column....but only 57...and in meters i was expected to write 1...i once quit the whole half done survey...bu i was not satisfied....and also was curious to find out what is going wrong....when i wrote 1 in m...and 57 in cms....it was accepted...and i was taking it as 2 different ways of answering...when it was one ans the same.

You are not the only person who experienced that. In fact, for how many times, I had experienced it. Everything seems ok at the first, then when the final part comes, here we go, it keeps coming back telling me I do have an invalid answer. I keep tracing where and what but no matter what I do, I can't thatg why I dont have any choice but to leave the survey so embarassed.

Hey eshaan, That happends from time to time. You see at certain time bugs or as mentioned glitches happen. When this happens, a certain keyword that you type that gets sent becomed glitched. This means that the data get corrupted and not identified as valid. Shouldn't be a big deal, these things happen. You could also move on and do another survey :). Best regards, Borg246

You weren't allowed to go back and re-enter? Some survey programs can be a pain in the neck. I belong to many..because it is hard to qualify sometimes. But, it sounds like yours just had a glitch. Sorry, I know how much time can be spent on these programs.

That happens with them from time to time - remember, they are a portal. The surveys you see are created by their customer or the customer's agency. The best thing to do is send a note - they have responded to mine although sometimes the survey is closed by the time they tell me to re-take. BTW, did you at least get the consolation amount to your account?
