Are there a lot of stray dogs in your country?

There are a lot stray dogs here in our place and they are being caught by the dog catcher. They stay in the dog pound for 3 days and if no one claims them then they are fed to the crocodiles in the crocodile farm. I feel so bad for them. Even though they are just dogs, I think they also have feelings. What do you do with stray dogs in your country? Are they treated well even though they are just animals?

I strongly believe that they should not be treated in this fashion and yes I am from India and yes there are a lot of stray dogs. I would like to inform you that in one of our states Nagaland the people there eat dogs and it is a delicacy there.

There are also other people who eat dogs here in our country. They even sell it in the market and its even more expensive than pork or beef. Dogs are fed to the crocodiles here in our place but they have to put it to sleep before putting the dog into the croc's cage.

What?? Fed to crocodiles? That's really cruel. They're are a lot of stray dogs in my country. I've never encountered this but people told me stories that the city municipal would just shoot the dogs in public and sometimes put them in sacks. It's horrible to know that when there are more humane ways to put the strays to sleep. Even better, don't put them to sleep at all. They can just sterilize the strays. I'm not really a dog person but to me any stray dogs/cats should not be treated that way.

We have quite a lot of stray dogs here in Reunion, unfortunately they tend to end up on the high way and get hit by cars a lot. It's sad sometime to see them next to the road and I sometimes wish that I had a big farm somewhere where I can rescue all the doggy's of the world. :)

I live in India and there are a lot of stray dogs.....But they are definitely not treated like this ..........SO CRUEL..........

Wow, fed to crocodiles?! That's horrible! I'm personally not much of an animal lover but I still think that's not the right thing to do for stray dogs... Here in Finland we don't have many, I don't even know if there are any stray dog cathcers here, probably not more than one. I guess there aren't more than about 10 stray dogs wondering the streets of Finland right now :D However, if a stray dog is caught, I guess they go through some health checks first and then they try to find the owner. If the owner can't be found, the dogs are put to a pet reformatory where someone can come and get a dog for themselves and so the dog will happily move to a new, good home :) I think the system here in Finland works great and I really think this kind of a system should also be used in areas where stray dogs are a problem...
