It has been said that we should let no day pass without speaking a cheery and encouraging word to someone. We have also been told that such actions will enrich our own life and lift our spirits. Although I can't claim to have followed it everyday,I've found that when practiced sincerely it has never failed to lift my spirit. Do you make an efford to practice this and what has been your experience?

Admittedly I don't do this. If I ever did this at work, it was because I wanted something in return. It would be a friendly chit-chat with a co-worker so as just to get whatever I need to get done at work. If by saying that 'it will enrich our own life', means getting ahead at work, then I guess I already am practicing it. I know I should at least start this with my kids. Maybe today...

Hi bounce, Thanks for such an honest response but I expect that you already encourage your kids, children always need our support. If we look for it we'll find that most people do something that they can be complimented on, even those that we may not agree with. Blessings.

Yes! I try to smile and be friendly.. I think all people want to be accepted, but it's in human nature to not be accepting (somehow it helps one's ego I guess to somehow meaneuver others to be somehow 'beneath' you in one's mind) so I figure there's a lot of negativity that goes on, so I like to smile and be friendly. I hate it if I'm in a bad mood and get grumpy, but hey I'm in menapause, so it happens.

Hi Pose123, I think I am doing the same in mylot but not sure about the real life. In fact I have not observed it well. I think now I have to observe this habit everyday and develop the same in my life. I agree with you if we can encourage someone at least once in a day it will be great. If those people got some positive thoughts because of us, we may get the positive results indirectly. Let us start a new habit.

Hi Sreekala, Thanks for commenting and it really works but we must do it to help the other person. If done sincerely we will feel good automaticly. Blessings.

Yes i do make it a point to say some good sincere words to other people and i do it best in my social sites. And sometimes i just get so surprised to find out that one person really needs some uplifting and my words of good wishes was timely. I get the same blessing from other people too. They would just tell me nice words of encouragement that i need right at that moment. We can spread love, and we don't have to go bigtime. In our little world we can do it and it is just as rewarding as those being done on a bigger scale. (^_^)

Ego restricts encouragement. Cut the ego and encourage others makes your life enriched, and the happiness you receive through this act is marvelous.Unending. One such act every day makes you a very healthy and positive person is my experience. A good patting for the work done will surely make the person veryhappy and it doubles to you too. Hence give one encouragement and receive two benefits.

I believe a cheery and encouraging personality radiates, like a beacon in the night, and brightens the lives of all those it touches. Have you ever walked into a room of quarrelsome people to find the atmosphere almost funereal, in contrast to the light and progressive mood pervading at another place, where the people are happily engaged, and obviously getting a Kick out of life? Research has shown that a smile, without actually feeling like it, triggers like reactions in all those who are smiled upon." The robbed that smiles, steals something from the thief!" ~William Shakespeare~

yes some time but not every body. most of the time i do this to my friends who are getting with negative thoughts. i think there is a need of motivation for any body to give him the petrol and i think after this crude oil they could start even and some time they could run like ferrari.

i used to like it when people said to me -nice job- when i was 10. i was learning how to play the guitar. a subtle comment could be an encouragement like when people say that. also a tap on one s back could also be an encouragement if done after a deed. but if it was me encouraging myself it often times doesnt work. i dont know why. well i try to think positively of things and it works so i think that s encouragement for me but when i say good job to myself i always question it. lol

encouragement is needed in everybody's life, they not only can help other poeple but also can enrich our own life. I have told funny stories to a friend of mine everyday, after a period of time I found that my friend changed from a introverted into a cheerful man.

Yes, im a person who always places myself in somebody's shoe. I didn't know why i'm like that, but i truly love myself for that. Maybe that's my innate quality that i would like to treasure forever. Of course, i encouraged other person many times. This is a free thing you can not buy it, it is free so why not give it. Furthermore, you'll never know how much you've done to the one you gave your encouragement.

Encouragement comes in many different disguises. I think encouragement is anything that can increase a person's mood...anything that can help them go through the day easier. Encouragement can be a simple smile...or holding the door open for someone. Showing a hint of care is always nice. Many of my friends become discouraged in the topic of boys. Many times things get messed up, or my friends get hurt by boys...and I always remind them that they will get rewarded for their patience and goodness in the end.
