Do you prepare when you travel or just get up and go?

I am the spur at the moment person. I mean I get ready at the last minute and leave. I hate to think about it too much where it becomes so stressful that I just do not want to go anywhere. We have a competition to go to and everyone is like in an uproar,. We gotta leave at this time to get there by this time is all I hear when we are are not leaving until midnight. Anyway, what kind of traveler are you? The fun one, the spur of the moment one, the detailed one or any other one?

I have a disabled toddler son and a baby daughter. I am an independent traveler that has been to fifty different countries in the world. I usually book my flight in advance and then read up on my destination. On just a few times I have decided that I wanted a last minute deal. Sometimes I have had a nasty shock like I booked a flight to Cancun but a hurricane closed its airport. Therefore my flight was canceled and I quickly booked a flight to Male. So that is how I got to go to the Maldives. My son needs catheter care so I must make sure I take lots of those on each trip I go on. I will be taking my children to Vancouver this summer. I booked a flight to Halifax but it was canceled by the tour operator. I decided to book a flight to Vancouver to make up for my disappointment of not being able to go to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. I choose to stay in locally owned guest houses and in unusual accommodation when I get the chance to stay somewhere like that. In Belize I found out there is a tree house in Bullet Tree Falls. So I arranged to stay there when I was traveling in that region of Central America.

I really never thought about how others travel and what they have to do in order to be able to travel. I just do things quickly as possible. I like to get away and not think about where i came from. I am glad to hear that you do get out and the see the world with your children. Most would just stay home. It may be extra work but it is worth it to see their smiles on their faces. I love children they are so innocent and look up to you for guidance , love, attention, and you can be yourself around them. I wish I could travel the world but financially it is not in the cards yet. Take care of yourself and those children. Have fun guys.

I am the detailed one, but only because i have 2 young children. I have to not only pack for myself, but for 2 kids. I have to remember clothes, medicines, snacks, diapers, blankets, entertainment for the long ride.....etc. the list goes on. So yeah i kind of have to be prepared, but on the same note i am also a procrastinator lol.

I understand it with small children. They are a handful just to be little ones on their own. You have to be prepared. Anything can happen and when you do not have it to fix with, well disaster happens. Enjoy your little ones they grow so fast and Its like time flies faster when you have children then when you don't. Take care thanks for your input.
