Yes in most cases it does matter. Take for example how do you think a korean will be able to understand an american? unless the korean is very much fluent in english too. But there are speacial cases as well like the mute and the deaf and the blind as well, they have their own ways of communicating by symbols and other means too

hi nadeem,
We really cannot understand a person if we do not know the language he is speaking. I am a Filipino and if you are a Chinese, Spanish, Indian, Japanese or whatsoever and I speak with you using my native language, you will absolute do not understand me. That is why, English becomes our lingua franca. Because of that, we can communicate with anyone in the world easily. That is the reason why English is always included in every curriculum on every school around the world. That is the reason, why many nationalities strive hard to learn the English language.

Hi nadeem,
There is no way for you to communicate without a language. But you can communicate with people from different languages by using hand language because it is internationally recognize. Or you can use your body language. The problem with hand and body languages is you need to meet the people face to face (in person or in front of video or web cam).
It would not be any communication without both parties understand the language. Just like you said there is no point to speak to the person who does not understand your language.

Of course. Language is really important in Communication. It's hard to communicate to those people who does not understand what you want to say. In my work, I have to deal with different kinds of people with different languages and it's hard to understand what they're saying and they do not easily understand english language. And sometimes it's hard for me to express what I really want to say in english.

You bet. It's not like sign language (which surprisingly is also in different languages). If you want the best communication between or among people, then speech is the way to go. Second i guess would be some kind of written language...say, like on a forum... discussing... things... with words... like this... in English! See?
Now, how could you have asked that question without thinking about what you are doing now! It's amazing really. we take forgranted the human ability to create a complex communication standard. You dont speak (or type) perfect English, but i understood you perfectly. Don't let language barriers keep you down though, dude.
Communication is so much more than a language. have fun

I think that if the world could work on creating a universal language it would help us to reach world peace sooner. When we can all communicate with one another efficiently and actually fully understand what one another are saying then we will be able to get to know each other well. The effort to be able to converse with each other on an equal level as well as the effort to make an attempt at peace should be able to rid the world of some evil hopefully.

It mustn't but it does.
To be understood what you really want to say, you must communicate with someone who can understand things you say.
HOw can this person really knows what you feel if she can't understand what you are really trying to say?
There are online translators you can use while chatting.
You type what you want to say in your language, and you choose the language to which it must be translated.
There is always a way.Don't lose hope.
Browse for the best online translator that suits your needs and i'm sure you are going to have many friends soon.

i think when it comes to chatting there are some rules you need to follow. Especially when you have incentives when doing so. You can join the english speakers or join with the one your language. It's a matter of compromise.. Doing that going to a room with people who talk your language can prevent spamming...

Yes it is difficult if you can't understand other nationalities if they can't speak English. That's why it is important to learn other language aside from your language to be able to be competitive. This coming school year High schools going to include some foreign languages in their curriculum like Japanese, Spanish and French so the students can learn some basics of these languages.

Hey avg!
Is it true? their adding languages? they should have done that a long time ago. it would really help us now. I like to learn different languages to be able to communicate with others. Anyways, its nice to hear that students now have an opportunity to get to know other languages.

Well friend, language is best mode of communication. When the communication is not proper, there are lots of misunderstandings, confusions and we cant convey the right words in right way. So language is important.Especially when its through the online chat, language plays a great role. Atleast conveying right words is important.

I think that they should incorporate a layer ontop of a website, a bit like a CSS sheet- which automatically translates what was said in the posts to be in the language that you wish to read it in. Ofcourse this has been tried before but it usually concerns just the links and buttons of the forum itself, not the content of which is written in the discussion threads.
It would have to be quite advanced, though, as the way different languages would say the same sentance can and often do differ, for example in French they have masculine and feminine expressions while in English it is one singular expression, and the way for example "Go to" in english might well be written "To Go" in another language- indeed a primitive example but I hope that makes sense.
One disadvantage to this would be that the forums code structure would have to be greatly lengthened to accomodate the new algorithms, thus slowing down the loading process and increasing the resources usage on the host's (server's) hardware. Not by much, but but it may well be noticeable, especially on large multilingual boards.

since we have different language of course its very important so we can explain nor say what we really want to say in every details. its also important to have to have a universal language in order to understand each other or else we will look like those deaf who can only do some sign language whenever we want to say something since the other person didnt understand your language. since english become the universal language then we have no choice but learn in or order to understand other and for them to understand us.

yes, nadeem, language is a real problem. as in the old days in the Bible, there is one laguage and everyone understands. even Adam and Eve speaks to God. later on in the city of Babel, man were building a tower to the sky. after that, God scatterd all the people around the world with many languages and dialects. now there are a few thousand languages and dialects. in my country there are a few major languages with diverse dialects. its not easy to converse in many of these areas. good thing here we have english, malay and mandarin. well we just have to wait for someone in our language joins the chat or we call it a day. or learn some other languages to socialise on the net and in the outside world. have a good weekend, nadeem.

Yeah language is the most important. If you want to convey the message suitably you should have a common language which will accomplish the desired effect. If you want to interact with your associates or co-workers a common language is a must. That is why at the time of interview in the office the officials ask you how many languages do you know. Are you good at English speaking and writing/correspondence. While communication If you don't know the language then apply sign language. (deft and dum people use) even in the chat there are many emotions/feelings codes are there that also you can try a bit. If you donot know their language while chating is a bit problem.
