writing is one of the best things to do for some people. we earn money through article sites etc. but how many of you write journals? do you write whatever happened during that day or simply your thoughts or a very happy event!? one of the reasons i write it is cause...after many years when one reads their journal, they can re-live all those happy memories and feel good about it :) but do you think that journals also have a bad side to it? it makes u realise what kind of person u were and u probably don't like it now as now u are more sensible in your way of thinking...?

I love writing and I have been keeping a number of private journals for many years. It's from these journals that I became interested in writing online and publishing articles! I have quite a few articles, mainly fiction and creative writing, published on Helium. Initially I used to write about my day and I used to do this every single day but I guess I became bored with this task and I restricted myself to updating my journal once per month. That's the good thing about a journal I think! You can look back on your journals many years from now and remember what you were doing at a specific time, date and place! I guess I record those pleasant memories as well as those unpleasant memories, there tend to be quite a few of those these days! Another good thing that I find with journal writing is the fact that it helps you to escape for a short while, it's very relaxing and you can escape into your own thoughts! I think there is the danger that a journal can be filled with lots of negative thoughts and emotions so I suppose there has to be a balance afterall, you would not want to become corrupted by negative thinking! Yes, I love writing and I will always find a place in my heart for journal writing! Andrew

I got my first diary when I was 11, and when I was a teenager I also had a diary. Some years ago while I was going through my old room at my parents' house I found some of my old diaries. I read the diary that I had written when I was a teenager, and I must say that I found some of it very funny, because it was obvious that I was very childish and immature in many ways. I was also a little embarressed to read some it, because it seemed so self-centred and immature, but at least it showed me how much I have changed since that time.

I kept a journal when I was younger. Probably the bad part when keeping a journal would be that someone inappropriate might find it...and it could be at least embarrassing, if not more. That is why I torn it into pieces and threw it into fire, because someone nearly found it and could read my personal things in there. So basically this is the only bad thing. But if the point would be just to read after some time and have a good time, well, use sites like myLot to put your thoughts in...and the effect would be the same...plus the good time spent in here. I came back to myLot after a two year break and I read the posts I wrote back then... it is still enjoyable...

Hi, khalida! I don't place limits on my journaling. Sometimes a review of the day's activities is what I write. Sometimes it's my feelings about people or things. Sometimes it's a lot of questions I have. Whatever comes to mind goes on paper. When I look back at old journals, I sometimes see things I wish were not true of me. Most of the time, I'm glad to see myself growing in mind and spirit...

Hi, khalida. I think that journals do have a bad side to it especially when a person may write their bad thoughts about another person and what they may want to badly do to them. In this case, I think that is when this brings out a bad side to a person. And, this attitude makes them react in abnormal ways that are inconsistent with their normal behavior. Otherwise, the positive things always seem to be good and it brings out the best in others.

Hello Khalida, Yes, I use write journals. It help sort out my thoughts. It will keep the meories fresh if I write them down soon enough. The problem is what happens if you get divorced or break up with the boyfriend because we put happy thoughts in there and sad ones and problems. It is hard looking back. For others who write really well they can become story books or documentation on there journey to another country or for missionariareies what they learn etc.. Sometimes jouranals are tracking history epseically if you are famous like Marylyn Monroe or Martin Luther King etc... it all what you keep in the book etc... Thanks and Have a great day Sincelrey Unique16

Journals are my thing when I was in high school. Now, I don't write. I may interact online and other stuff. But times now are busy. And I find it rather a hassle getting a pen and paper to write memories. However though, they are very beneficial.
