hello siliguri,i haven't really noticed & although my name starts with letter "S",my sister,my daughter, some cousins, nieces.I don't think so people prefer this letter & there's no specialty but i believe there is something unique with it as well as the other letters,....so i neither agree nor disagree but i can say that it is the person itself who makes it special...cos for me it's a special letter...:-)

I have had a similar experience but not with the letters of me and my friends names, but instead birthday dates. A lot of my friends have birthdays on the same date as mine but on a different month, or just 2 or 4 days at most away from my birthday date during the same month. It is really strange but I guess just a coincidence.

Hi siliguri, My experience is different. I know many names starts with the letter ‘S’. But now the trend in our native place is putting name which start with the letter ‘A’. The reason behind this is, in school, lists are preparing alphabetically and each parents wish to their child/children should comes first position. (Not only the schools but at the time of interview/test etc) Since ‘S’ is coming too far behind many are not interested to put the name start with ‘S’. This is the recent trend and earlier there was no such interest. Still some parents are not bothering about this and give a nice name to their kids.

I've not really noticed that the letter 'S' is predominant although there are a few names which are quite common here, such as Sue/Susan. I do notice a lot starting with 'J' as there are a lot of people called John,James, Jean, Joan, Julie, Janet, Josh, Joseph.... Maybe it changes over different generations as certain names gain popularity/
