Just three days ago I switched from Norton 2010 to ESET Nod32 (before Norton I had Antivir free AV). The change is miraculous. I had a few temporary files in my Internet Explorer cache and 3 of them had viruses in them, one of which was a serious threat - Norton was not able to detect it! Also, ESET is much faster than both of the ones I used before, it uses only 40mb of my memory when scanning and updating, as opposed to Norton's 120mb (I have 4Gb in total).
I suggest you leave Norton and get ESET, it's a lot better!

Just be sure to get the 64bit version if your operating system is 64bit, it's a LOT faster. Hope you enjoy it :)

I have been using Avast version4.8 Home edition. It comes free and it is very good. It has taken care of many attempts by viruses such as Trojen Horse to ingress my PC through Email. I am fully satisfied with it. You can download it free on the internet.

i agree with achilles avast home edition is #top 1 rated antivirus engine with antispyware, antimalware ,mailscanner, realtime system scanner
where other virus engines provide these features on pay per service but avast provides them for free, they are really good

hell0! the best ones that I have ever used are Kaspersky minilab and McAfee, but they both are really "heavy" ones but can guarantee you almost 94% security because there is no anti-virus software which can guarantee you 100% !

I use Spyhunter. It seems to work really well. You have to pay a one time fee for it. I believe it was about $30. However, if you want a free Antivirus software program, AVG Antivirus and Security software is very good as well.

I've been using AVG Free edition for a few years and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I think a lot of it has to do with what websites you go to and I really don't go to any that I might question as containing malware or anything like that. I'm pretty computer savvy so I guess staying away from viruses and such has come naturally for me since I use practical techniques when using the computer and surfing the web. Just make sure to scan your computer at least every two weeks and that'll help you out quite a bit.

Advice is always appreciated, martinlink. I've thought about it, but I don't have the money to pay for antivirus and won't for a good while. Currently unemployed, out of school, and about to move in a week and a half lol. I used to use Norton, but it wasn't that great at catching viruses/trojans. I'll keep ESET in mind though.
