Here is the latest 10-page admonishment sent Feb. 18, which cites four specific shortcomings in Bachmann’s year-end 2009 report:
1. Numerous contributions that appear to exceed the legal limits.
2. Contributions appear to have incorrect values in the “Election Cycle-to-Date” field.
3. Numerous employer and occupation entries on the report are not acceptable.
4. The report contains entries for contributions by more than one person, which also is unacceptable.
Here is more information which you can find by clicking on the link below:
The FEC cited 71 improper entries and 18 unacceptable employer or occupation entries in Bachmann’s report, which covered the period from October 1, 2009-December 31, 2009.
“The acceptance of excessive contributions is a serious problem,” the FEC warned Bachmann. “Again, the committee’s procedures for processing contributions should be examined and corrected in order to avoid this problem. Although the Commission
may take further legal action, prompt action by you to refund, redesignate, and/or reattribute of the excessive amount will be taken into consideration.”
The enforcement agency also was critical of the campaign’s arithmetic.
“Failure to correctly total contributions received from a given source in the
election cycle could lead to acceptance of excessive contributions by the
committee,” the FEC cautioned.
A response from Bachmann’s campaign committee was due today, March 25.
“Failure to adequately respond by the response date noted above could result in an audit or enforcement action,” the FEC warned.

What do you think? Is she or her staffers just a bit careless and not so good at math or is she trying to get away with something here? Do you think some sort of action should be taken against her if she doesn't respond and comply with the rules?

I bet we could go through 100 senators and 400 some congressmen's/women's records and would find improprieties in every single one. None of them seem to be very good at staying within the boundaries, at math, at keeping promises, etc., so why dig so hard in to Bachmann's records (I noted the Feb 18 date), besides you don't like her? How about we force the whole d**n bunch to clean up their messes? I'm ready for throwing a lot of people out of office in November, if the Executive/Legislative Branches don't do it first.

Hofferp, you can feel perfectly free to start a discussion about any of the 500 some Senators and Congressmen/women and I'll likely try to give a decent response. I didn't "dig hard" into Bachmann's records, I got the information in an e-mail from "DumpMicheleBachmann.com". Nope, I don't like her.

Why are you pretending that this sort of thing is a republican problem? Have you already forgotten about Geithner, Daschle, Franken, and of course, Rangel? Two of those people have held critical positions writing and enforcing our tax laws. But that's ok because there's a D next to their names right?

You're right, Taskr, this sort of thing is and has been a problem for members of both parties. The thing is, we're not discussing those other people, at least that wasn't MY intent when I started this discussion...lol! I'll say one thing, though, at least those you mentioned above have done something constructive as well as the "mistakes" they've made but the same can hardly be said of Bachmann. From what I've heard and read she's accomplished NOTHING since taking office other than get on TV when she says something particularly out there or over the top.

I think like anybody else should be, Bachman should be made to explain. That is for the ethics committee or her constituents. I think ALL politicians should be audited and often. They all should be held accountable and often.

I really dont know who Bachman is to tell you the truth. No one is perfect that is my opinion. I dont know the extent of her issues and why there are so many people who feel that tey need to judge someone esles work. I'm sure she is good at some things.

Ms. Bachman is the United States Representative of Minnesota's 6th congressional district and member of the Republican Party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michele_Bachmann
I'm sure that criminals would like to use the "nobody's perfect" defense during trials but I'm afraid it just wouldn't work. Most of us are judged in one way or another everyday. It's just a fact of life.

I'm going to be fair. Please direct me to the post you did about Charlie Rangel cheating on his taxes and how bad that was. Any other admonishment of the democrats may be considered. I'm really trying to avoid calling you the H word.

I'll do that when you direct me to your posts against any Republican! Is that a new myLot guideline that if you start a discussion about one person's misdeeds you must start one about everyone else in their group who has also committed some of their own?
Hey, I'M only trying to be fair! If I didn't do it myLot would be nothing more than a liberal bashing site. I feel SOMEONE has to pick on the conservatives a little bit...lol!
