Gwen Stefani in concert

I saw Gwen Stefani perform with No Doubt last summer...and she is quite the performer. She saw a girl in the pit holding up a sketch that she made of Gwen. Gwen got it, signed it, and gave it back to the girl. She also saw someone holding a sign saying that it was their birthday and asking her to play a specific song. She then had the band play the song, even though it wasn't on the setlist. It was really awesome that she just added that to the show. During a song, she saw an excited girl in the audience with her mother...and the girl was trying to get a good picture. She had the girl brought out of the audience and had her and her mother brought up on stage. She then took a picture with the girl and her mom on the stage. It was truly amazing.
She put on an excellent show. Has anyone else seen her perform live?

Not only have I seen her, I have worked a couple of her shows. (I am a stagehand at a concert venue.) She does like to connect with her audience. Last summer, when No Doubt came through, we had to make sure a platform behind the barricades directly in front of the stage was stable enough for Gwen to jump down on. Obviously it was to get closer to the audience.
Two years ago, she came through on her own and she sang a song while climbing up and over the audience to the front-of-the-house staging area. It's a nightmare for security, but the fans loved it.

That sounds like an awesome job! Whenever a singer goes past the boundary of the stage, I always think of how much pressure that must put on the security personnel.

Hi jenrose930, I like listening to music. Gwen Stefani is one of my favorite artists as well. After reading your discussion I couldn't help and visit youtube site and enjoying listening to her songs and typing post here at the same time 
At the moment her song, The Sweet Escape is airing 
It's rather shame that I haven't watched her live performance yet. It's must be really fascinating for sure if watching her performing on the stage. Everyone would feel excited and high on the spot. Yeah, after reading the description above I then come she is not only an excellent singe she is a considerate and caring sweet and beautiful lady as well.

wow! shes so nice... I dream to see her perform live someday. I love her when she was still with the band (No Doubt) although shes a great stand alone performer as well. Don't Speak is my most favorite song from them. I also watched an episode on MTV long time ago where they surprised their fans in Junior High and put up a free concert on the school stadium. It was hella crazy! Shes so kind and down to earth. Love her.
