Urine or You're Out!

I received this in the mail today from a friend and was asked to pass it along. I did. Would you? Do you agree?
"Like most folks in this country (US), I (DID) have a job.
I worked, they paid me.
I pay my taxes & the government distributes my taxes
as it sees fit.
In order to get that paycheck, in my case, I am required to
pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem).
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes
to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
So, here is my question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test
to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet.. I do,
on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT
doing drugs while I work.
Can you imagine how much money each state would save
if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check ?
I guess we could call the program "URINE OR YOU'RE OUT"!"

Hi Hofferp. I think that would be a good thing for those on welfare checks. I also think it would be a good thing if they would limit how many children these people could have after they get on these welfare checks. I worked all my life and raise my children without the help of welfare checks on my own. I had to work 2 and sometimes 3 jobs, some part time and one full time and paid my taxes too. So I think if they want to get a welfare check and stay at home and keep having one child after another to get more money the government should stop them from having more and more children. I lived in LA and seen that people just kept having children so they could get more money and do nothing. I don't think that is right either. I agree with you on this one. Good discussion.

At one time, but it may vary by state, I thought there was a limit on the number of children you could receive aid for, or increases for. I am trying to remember where I lived at the time, but a person told me that after a third child they got no more assistance. So whether you had three or six kids, you received the same amount. I think there should be some community service they could do, if they cannot find jobs.

Thanks for your thoughts, Free_Man and GardenGerty. I'm not sure if the welfare checks stay the same after a certain number of children. It would be interesting to find out though. I've seen happen in NM, where I live, the same thing as in LA; people having more children for the extra welfare money.
