Few months back one of my active friend on Facebook received an international gift from one of his online friend on his birthday. He is very much active online and has huge number of international friends from different countries. On his birthday last December he got one gift from one of his online friend. He told that he has publicly displayed his address as an update on that networking site so asked his friends to ship some gifts on his next birthday. It was just done as an humor but he posted real address.
And two days prior to his birthday he got a gift from his online friend with whom he was interacting online.
I don't think someone can send me such gift because I am not that active on any networking site. If I was that active then I could only expect but still not sure?
What do you think about this?

This is a foolish act of publishing your real address on networking site. It can be dangerous because you never know who are sitting on the other side of net and what are they thinking.
Well, as for your question, I would say that I don't expect anything from my online friends. Yes, I would like to give a call or sms on their b'day but a gift is something which is unthinkable!

You have considered a good point about security.
But I think he was lucky that he never under observation of such people.
Have a nice and happy life ahead.

actually theres really some who used to do that specially if the person find you interesting or if they are happy to have you as there friend and its their means of a gift. its good if they do it voluntarily without asking to do it. i also had online friends who used to send me gifts and even money before though of course only few are like them coz most of them are just here for fun online thats why i ignore them most of the time.

I think we have to be practical online rather than caring too much about others.

Well, I never expect anything from anyone. If one wants to give me anything it's their own choice. I accept when given with love and not just. Friends are the most treasured gift in a person's life. So gifts for friends also have to be special. I gift to my friends without any reason when I see something and feel like to give them so I buy and give it to my friends when we meet but online friends..No. I have never met any of my online friends ever.

My friend didn't expected anything but it was just done for fun so that he can interesting responses to his message.
But he got a gift and that is because someone thinks of him as a good friend.
Thanks for your response.
