Honestly, How Honest Do You Think People Are?

With me working where I work, I would love to say that people are very honest, even in a major city that I live in, I live in the Capitol city of my state, now, my thinking, and my hopes, are two different things. There were two things that went on at work that got me to thinking about this one, the first one is, the employee gate was off time, and wouldn't work, now I work at a parking booth at a hospital, the employees have a card they have to swipe to get in and get out, the hospital takes so much out of their check for parking a month. No biggie, but something happened to the timer on the gate to get out, and it was not letting anyone out, so we had to raise the gate, now, I do know that some, very few, took advantage of that situation, for our ticket count didn't go down all that much. I was impressed, totally. I was actually going to write and tell you all that even in this day and age, we still have very many honest people out there...........then it happened. Our ticket spitter went out, it went out Monday morning at 7:00 am, it was out till Thur at 5:40 pm. We had to rely on "The Honor System" for people to be honest about how long they were at the hospital, Well many more were lying, our $1.00 and $2.00 tickets went out the roof, while our $3.00 tickets, suffered. We all knew what was going on. But we expected it...what I didn't expect was what happened after the spitter was fixed......... Now, mind you, I said it was fixed at 5:40 thur eve. I looked at the time because that was when the man came up to the booth to tell me it was fixed. Our prices are anything over an hour is $3.00. At 7:00 I had people arguing with me that no, the spitter was NOT fixed when they came in, that I was lying. After the forth person to do this to me, I was livid! People were lying to me and telling me that I was lying to them...... so yes, my views have changed on that subject. The last person that tried that stunt did it when my boss was there, and he took care of it. So my question is.........How honest do you think people really are? And would you have the nerve to tell someone that they are lying, when you know for a fact that they are telling the truth, and you are the one lying?
