Well I decided to try out the much advertised topsy turvy upside down growing thing. LOL...not sure what the proper name is. Planted tomatoes, 2 kinds, Roma and Cherry and also some green peppers. So far so good!! I have blooms and they are nice and healthy looking. It's abit early for pest so no bug issues yet.
Any advice on how to get the best crop and use only natural pesticides? What are you growing this year for your healthy dinners?

I am also in love with trees and plants but the problem is that i don't have any land to propagate my crops. But instead, i just grow it in pots. Ive harvested tomatoes and string beans already. I am planning to try what iv'e wathed in TV last Sunday wherein the farmer grew the lettuce on ground coconut husk and not on soil. The lettuces looks healthy so im excited to try it as well. Goodluck to you!

I read somewhere about the coconut husk shavings being used instead of soil and it sounds very convenient. I don't have the time to really put into a large garden so that's why the topsy turvey sounded ideal. So far so good and the little tomatoes are forming! Very excited to see the progress. The peppers don't seem to be doing much yet. Time will tell. Take care!

I'm in the Poconos and it's probably too soon to plant anything just yet. It's just starting to hit the 70's although it's still just possible to get frost at night. There were no veggie plants when I went to the Home Depot last week. Despite that I picked up some planting soil and I'm going to try and start some seedlings indoors. So far just squash and peas. Have to get more seeds. Around here it's tough to grow things because of animals like deer, groundhogs, and raccoons. I relocated a groundhog and a raccoon last summer so hopefully my plants will do better. The got through my fence and did a real number on my cucumbers, just when they were starting to come in. I have limited space but I was doing reasonably well using pots for cucumbers and tomatoes. I'll probably use only pots for both of those this summer which will leave me more space in the groun for squash, eggplant, and peppers. I'll also using a pot for green onions.
