Alright this just has to be said. Doesn't anyone find it strange outright weird that the Phoenix Coyotes are doing so well?
Hmmm, I would think the weirdest thing is that the NHL owns the team. What would be the re-sale value of a franchise at the bottom of the league? Nothing. Okay how about a team that is at the top. Or even make it a couple rounds into the playoffs?
Well there is my point. Mr. Bettmen I would have to say good show. How about you step aside and let the big boys actually run a league that can do fine on there own without you manipulating the way the standings turn out. Would really like to hear other people's take on this.

Haha! I've heard this being talked about on sports radio. I know that having new coach could have contributed to their success, it is just funny that most of their wins are after regulation. And they look like beneficiaries of a lot of lucky calls.
Maybe we should just take it for what it is. And as part of selling the franchise. I just hope that it goes to a market that cares. Hello Canada!

I agree Bounce, also they aren't playing under any real pressure, they are just playing, and I agree taking advaantage of some real lucky calls, how come those calls always seem to go against my guys?
Tell me you got to see the 11 round shoot out the other night just to get a score in the game? I haven't started any discussions, because it seems when I do I jinx my boys..but in a whisper, I am saying..They are back!!

I think the Phoenix "Cinderella Story" just shows what a good coach, and a team that truly plays like a team can accomplish. It's nothing weird really, just watch Nashville, they've been doing the same thing now for some years. They are both teams without any superstars like Crosby, Ovetchin etc.. Their success is based on great coaching, great teamspirit and great goaltending.
There is always teams every season that are doing way better than you expected them to, and then the next year falls back down to earth...We've had Edmonton, Carolina, Tampa Bay in the finals, even winning the SC in the 00s. Oki, some of those teams did have superstars a la St. Louis, Staal, but none were really favorites to go far before the season started.
Phoenix has just done a great job this year, I don't think the NHL has given them any favors along the way

The team has no notable stars except Shane Doan and the goalie(I can't spell his name). Kudos to the coaching staff for getting the job done. I also think the Olympics helped them a lot.

I actually wanted to say something similar, just to wag the dog so to speak ,but that would be disrespecting the good work done by Dave Tippett and Dave King. What the Coyotes have done is play the trap with a good goalie, and win a lot of games in overtime and shootouts. I haven't really followed the Yotes but were they the benefactors of incorrect referee decisions all year?
