I know a lot of you are aware that I work at Wal mart as a cart pusher with that being said on third shift there are two assistant managers who take turns being in charge of the store, both I was not sure about there is one named Lucy who actually came out into the thunderstorm to pull me out of the parking lot because she was worried about me,she is strict but she is also caring, and the other which is the reason I am writing this is named Sean and he is a jerk,I found out tonight that a third shift door greeter has a tumor in her brain that is killing her,and her husband always comes in and checks on her,and Sean threw him out,and told him he was not allowed in the store, after nearly breaking his hand when he shook it,there was also a third shift guy who is a great guy, whose son was in a coma and was dieing and this guy asked Sean for the night off because his son only had 72 hours left to live, and Sean told him if he did not come in he would not have a job, that happened Wednesday night, and no one has seen the guy since and we are all worried about him,Sean also shoots the dogs in his neighborhood, and had charges against him,but begged the judge to not charge him with a felony because he would lose his job and not be able to support his family, these things burned me up,and if Sean had been in front of me I can not promise I would not have decked him one, people told me Sean was moved to third shift because no one likes him and now I see why,the good thing is the third shift door greeter also told me that Lucy heard what Sean did and she was mad,and Todd the store manager is gonna talk to her about it in the morning,I hope Sean gets fired,my questions are do you think he sounds like a jerk?Do you have any bosses that act like Sean or Lucy?Would you wanna work under someone like either? Please share with me your opinions and experiences but do so in a serious fashion, because this is serious to me.

Hey there, HLC! It's so good to read a discussion from you. Thank you so much for posting this discussion. I really need it today because I have a major vent that has to do with my boss. First of all, Sean sounds like such a jerk that he should be the one out of a job. I don't think he's fair at all, and I honestly don't think he thinks things through before he says them. I think he really needs to consider how others feel and treat others how he would like to be treated. Having said that, I have a very work-oriented boss. I think she is a great person, but work is her life; therefore, she expects her employees to be the same way. However, you know that I got married less than a year ago, and so I would really like to have a life! So just today I set a much-needed doctor appointment as I haven't been feeling well and haven't had a chance to get an appointment. I set it up for a week from today to where I will only need to leave work an hour early. I thought that was pretty reasonable since I had to miss some work no matter when I scheduled the appointment. (I hate that!) Anyway, I sent an email to my boss to ok it with her. She did approve my request to leave early, but she told me that I have to get as much done as possible before I leave, (which I would be doing anyway, just so you know!) It's wonderful that I can finally get my appointment, and this time was pretty easy to get it approved. However, other times my boss gives me a really hard time getting time off. I've been called unreliable among other things, and it becomes very discouraging when all I'm trying to do is get doctor appointments. In the past several months my boss went through a very tough time because her husband was diagnosed with cancer around Halloween, and he passed away a couple weeks ago. My boss was rarely in the office, but she worked remotely from the hospital and from home when possible. We could almost always get in touch with her via email, but we couldn't resolve issues in person, which made it difficult at times. It's really sad because her husband passed away only a couple weeks ago. I don't know about you, but I think it's kind of the same thing: my boss cares for her husband for about six months and works from home; I get doctors appointments every other month or so and either have to leave early or get in late. I think what I'm asking is fair, but it makes me frustrated that I have to explain myself each time to remain a reliable employee. Like you, I feel like there are better team leaders out there (for instance, yours would be Lucy). Unfortunate for me, I only have one manager all the time so I guess maybe that's why it's getting old. The good thing is that I'm hoping to have a new job within the next couple months where my manager will be a lot more understanding. I have met him, and he's a very nice guy. We can only hope! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I hope that Sean will either find out that he needs to be a more understanding boss or that he needs to move on because he isn't treating his employees very well. I think a brain tumor and a family member who could pass away any time should allow for as much time off as needed. Great discussion!

Thanks I know I do not do discussions that often but I try to make them good when I do make them, and my coworker said he saw Sean in Wal Mart yelling at his young daughter, and I wish no one had to deal with any bad managers like Sean and all the managers like that need to be fired, and I can honestly say I no longer work there and am a lot happier in my new job, which is funny because I replied to your team leader discussion about my new third shift supervisor, thanks for responding.

Hi cowboy! This is a terrible story and I hope to hell that
this "Sean" gets fired and his azz kicked for sure! How could
anyone be such an azzhole! Wait! I can tell you from my own
horrible experiences that I have had worse "bosses from hell"!
I have been cursed out, threated, abused, fired for no reason
except that the boss was a psycho! When I was working at some
of my jobs, and they were mostly for lawyers I was put through
some incredible horrors! But, the job I had working in
Customer Service for an International Rug Dealer was the worst!
The Boss was totally Psychotic! He would scream and curse at
everyone and make them feel like sh!t! Everyone was so scared
of him! And we weren't allowed to speak to him, only our
Supervisors were! I started to go into his office once to tell
him off and my Supervisor stopped me! I had had it! I did
eventually get fired and was so happy to be free from the
torture! Unfortunately Cowboy, there are alot of miserable people
in this world and many like Sean and many worse! So, hopefully
you won't see this pig again!

I wish he would get fired but I do not see it happening any time soon, and no boss should treat an employee like that, and I know some people do not deserve to be a boss and I no longer work with him,I now work at a different business and am much happier, and I do not think I will ever see him again, thanks for responding.

I have worked for people like this Sean person, a real jerk on a power trip who goes about treating people like donkey doo just because he has a little bit of authority. I can not stand that kind of person and I swear if I can help it I will never work for anyone like that again. If he is continually treating many employees badly like that and being so in-humane that he would not even let a man spend the last few remaining hours of his life with his son, then perhaps many employees should get together and right a letter of complaint about his treatment of people. Those kind of people just get my blood boiling. I wish I lived by you I would go and give him a piece of my mind for not letting that poor man have a night off to be with this son. That is just about the meanest thnig I have ever heard.

Hello Honey,
When you told me about this a few minutes ago I was really mad, I mean what kind of person would do that? It's pure evil ya know? I mean the poor husband was just checking on her, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Also the poor guy just wanted to spend as much time as he could with his son. What's worried me is the guy hasn't come back to work yet, but then again he may have decided not to because of the way that one manager was acting.
It just goes to show what this world is coming to with what has happened at your work recently.
I love you!

I know it is poor evil, and it is no wonder everyone is always saying he is a d*** and a a** when he is not around because it is totally true,I know he probably just decided not to come back, but I am still worried that something might have happened to him, especially since I am sure that losing a son is really hard, that and I forgot to mention that his son was only fifteen years old so I am sure that made it even worse, and yeah the world is going down the toilet,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

Maybe he will come back to your work if not to work then to shop and you can talk to him then. It's so sad that his son was so young, and it gives even more reason for us to dislike Sean.

Yes he is a nasty bitter person and there are a lot of people would love to see him gone from his job,and I hope they are doing good, the door greeter is still in a good mood, and I am praying for the other guy,and it is very bad situation, and it shows you how much Wal Mart wants money if they hire a**es like that to work for them as management,I was so mad when I heard and I was also so sad and no one I mean no one deserves to be treated like that.
