Hey everyone, I just thought of asking here if anyone knows how to stop someone from grinding their teeth while sleeping? My husband keeps on grinding his teeth while he's sleeping and when I asked him if he knows it, he said he doesn't. Is there a way or a certain position that could help lessen it? Thanks in advance for the replies

My brother who is 38 years old also grinds his teeth while sleeping. It is actually irritating. With his age, does he still have tape worms? lol.
Old folks says that it is bad for someone to grind his teeth while sleeping because it is a sign of some sorrows that the family will encounter. I just hoped that it is not that true.

Well, he may even do not know that you are grinding teeth at night. Teeth grinding is clinically referred to as bruxism. Simply defined, it is the act of consciously or unconsciously clenching your teeth either during the day or while you sleep. Bruxism is considered both a medical and a dental problem. This is because it affects both the teeth and all of the structure near it, including the head.
Once the dentist had determined that you suffer from bruxism, he would prescribe a cure for you. Teeth grinding cures are dependent upon the main cause of the habit. If your dentist believes that your teeth grinding habit is the direct result of stress, then he might refer you to a psychiatrist for a series of behavioral therapies to help eliminate the habit.

Hi chie! The elders said, it's unlucky, I guess more on the one who is noticing it. So whenever you see someone who's grinding his/her teeth while sleeping, what you should do is grab his/her mouth then throw it outside the window. It's not literally that you take away his/her mouth from his/her face, just an action which seems like you got his/her mouth and then you threw it towards outside the window. They said in this way, you will avoid bad luck. Hahaha, this is what I know. Have a nice day! Happy myLotting!

wow now that's something different! There's nothing wrong in believing superstitions but doing it doesn't do any harm as well. That's very unique and I haven't heard of that before mark! Thanks for the info and happy mylotting too! I'll try to do that, just like throwing something on a garbage can

That condition is actually a sleeping disorder. I think that causes for that one is stress. I think your husband's condition is even better than mine cause in my case, I grind and I also sing and talk in my sleep. Those are disorders related to grinding of your teeth when the brain sends impulses to other parts of your brain that makes you talk.

hello chiepao,i do grind my teeth when i sleep but not all the time,it usually happens when i'm tired or stressed. It was terrible during my college days, brought about stress in studies, almost every night,my best friend told me it's like i'm grinding corn..but anyways,it becomes less & less until now & FYI,my 2 other siblings also doing the same thing,& our mom told us we got it from our dad,so it must be heredity, maybe,no idea...but anyways old beliefs according to my grandma is that you have to slap the person with a slipper, throw it away & it will be gone forever...amazing but unbelievable, but we never tried it...anyways,haven't done it for long now, maybe because i'm relax now & at ease.

You can suggest that he use dental guards, or better bring him to a dentist. It is a problem that needs to be solved immediately because it can permanently alter teeth's placement.
