WHY DO PEOPLE POST A PICTURE OF SOMEONE ELSE IN THEIR AVATAR???

I understand if you have a picture of a object or a cartoon or even someting that represents you. I have a picture of my leg, ok at least it is me. Why post a picture of some model in a magazine or a Movie star. I see it alot. even if you don't want to use your real picture. then use a cartoon or symbol. why????

I agree, either a picture if yourself, OR a picture of something that represents you. Not a Picture of another person.

yea thats true i too imagine y people do that....r they shy to show their own facessss.....i would like to keep a pic of mine but i dont have one in my pc so i left the idea...so wats up guys and gals....lease dont put fake pics in ur profiles....y such ....u hav ur own beautiful faces ...unleash them all....put ur own pics

It's late here....I'm up alone and it's dark. I never really looked at your pic before..I wasn't sure what it was. Something hard to see. Well now I looked closer and enlarged and you scared the SH*t out of me. !!!.but I scare easy....

I have often wondered myself why people bother to use images of models. I could understand if they used a character from a film or TV series that they liked, but to use a model is virtually living a fantasy life.
Nevertheless, I have to confess that this is not my real picture, I am actually a red genie.

I don't post my picture because I'm afraid it would scare people away from my discussions. My avatar is that of the soccer club that I support here in Portugal.....it's different and makes it easy for me to find my comments which I check to see if the poster commented on my comments.

Some people don't want to show their face. I mean I have a cartoon image as my avatar but have photos of me which can be seen when viewing my profile. I think some people are ashamed to show their face, others don't have a picture of themseleves, some think they can pass themselves off as a model without anyone knowing it's not them and the rest (say if it was a famous celeb) just must really admire the person in their avatar. I don't see any problem with it so long as they don't claim their the model or celeb in their av and upload more in their photo album and unforunetly, we know this happens.
