Senator Lindsey Graham have you lost your mind?

United States

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) are pitching a new immigration overhaul bill. They pitched the idea to Obama to push new natinal ID Card with biometric information on it such as "fingerprint,DNA, hand scan, or iris scan that all employers would be required to verify". Obama has said so far he is "open to the idea". So EVERY US citizen would be REQUIRED to submit their fingerprints,DNA, hand scan or iris scan to get the card. (the senators have not decide what method to use yet). You would HAVE to have the card to get a job.Talk about invasion of privacy. The plan also has amnesty for illegals living in this country. Go ahead and blow your tops...I know I did. I live in SC and I will let you know this plan will fly over like a lead balloon in this state. Graham had better be prepared for the heck this is going to raise right here in his home state. So give your thoughts, rants, ideas on this horrible idea. Will it fly? Would you give your DNA in order to get a job? How about your finger prints?

I don't think he's lost his mind, this is just where his mind has been for a long time. He's a shining example of when I said the Republicans were doing the right thing, but most were doing it for the wrong reason. He SAID he opposed the health care bill because it violated the constitution, but here he is, supporting this national ID that would gather DNA and fingerprints. He doesn't give a crap that it violates the 4th amendment. "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, bagainst unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, [b]but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." So unless there is a warrant asking for my DNA, fingerprints, etc. the government has no right to gather this information and attach it to any form of ID.

Well the 10th amendment meant so much to him during the health care debates. I even saw him holding up a copy of it during an interview. That's the problem we have with these politicians. The constitution only matters when they can use it as a weapon. If it gets in the way of their plans, it's nothing but a nuisance.

This is why I have been saying there is no difference between republicans and democrats....they have both become authoritarian mided parties over years...just in different ways. They only support the constitution when it suits their political agenda in oposing the opposite party. It's why I cringe when I hear establishment republicans being refered to as "tea party" candidates. no legitimate tea party candidate has any business supporing unconstitutional crap like this.

OMG! that REALLY chaps my a55! I am self employed, thank goodness, but I am sure they would find a way to get mine. What an invasion of privacy! what crap! I wont even go into the amnesty part..... how in the world can they think this is ok? You thought things got nasty over health care - holy crap, I will go to Washington for that one!

I am freaking out about this too. YOu know what they will end up doing...you will have to have this "biometric" card to get a job, social security, a bank account...just about everything. That is such BS. I will go to washington with you. After I get done letting Graham know how I feel. Oh and letting everyone in my state know about this so we can all tell him what a stupid idea this is. Graham is such a moron. How he keeps getting elected is beyond me. Hopefully this will finally give people a clue in this state that he needs to be voted out. This is better than the "real ID" thing. It got stopped so hopefully this will too.

I had to really shake my head over this one, Senator Graham must be under cover for the libs as this is all for more government control over citizens, but amnesty for illegal immigrants, which of course transforms into each one a new vote for democrats. They want to of course sew up all these new controls as soon as possible while they have a majority.. And so much stimulus money to groups and causes which support the democrat tickets..

Graham has always supported amnesty for the illegals. He also supports cap and trade. Honestly is he a big old RINO (republican in name only). This just shows you how bad it has gotten. For him to be actually working on writting this bill and having biometric data embedded in it. What the heck. I mean come on. I know a lot of people in this state are fed up with him. If he really pushes this....it won't surprise me if the people of this state call for him to resign.

This is unnecessary, drivers licenses and state issued non-drivers licenses work. No one has yet to explain how these two forms of id have failed to do their job. So we are going to, supposedly, fix something that does not need fixing by putting new technology that is going to make it more expensive to get id. Would I give up my DNA or finger prints to get a job, the answer is why? Why do they need my DNA or finger prints, I have not committed a crime. Against popular belief, in this country you are still innocent until proven guilty.

I think this is something that most Americans can get behind to oppose. I don't like the idea of a national ID card and I definitely DON'T like the idea of ANY biometric aspect attached to it. It will be interesting to learn how the various candidates for the upcoming elections feel about this as I believe being in favor of it will be a vote killer. I know that it will be one for me.

I hope you are right that most americans will not support it. They are talking about attaching it to the immigration reform bill...so there will be support for it. A lot of poeple want immigration refrom. But hopefully they will stand up against this part of it.

This is why it's up to all of us who are informed to get the word out to everyone who is not. My husband's family down here in Florida have an automatic reflex when it comes to political issues...they either love it or hate it without having much information at all. I know I get on their nerves sometimes but I give them the information they're lacking so that they can have an informed opinion. With this legislation, they'd be all for it...hey, it's about immigration reform! No, it's about a lot more than that.

I haven't read the responses, so someone else may have said this. If I'm plagiarizing ideas, I appologize. lol How about this: Instead of every American citizen getting one of these ID cards that takes your fingerprints, DNA, picture, and other information, how about giving one out to every illegal immigrant coming across the border and looking to live here and gain citizenship? Are we keeping tabs on everyone or just illegals?

It sounds like they want to keep tabs on everyone. Which is wrong.
• United States

Yep. If it were just about immigration, there are many other ways to handle it. This is positively about keeping tabs. Just like if healthcare overhaul were about simply helping people, they would have started off simply helping people instead of laying a foundation for complete hostile takeover. I suppose when you're surrounded by elite schmucks feeling they're smarter than everyone else, you really believe you're one of them and that you're smarter than everyone else. The rest of us are just morons, I guess, for not wanting their brilliant solutions.

Man, I would probably hitchhike to Washington for this one if I had too, though I actually doubt I would have to, I think there would be enough rideshares going there :P It's hard enough to get a job. I don't need this crap too.

A burnt child dreads the fire.US authority is starting to fear the runaway situation amid security worries. To provide private information such as fingerprints,DNA?It surely cannot solve the problem.Only by trust, love and humanity can people build up a safe society.Any other form of guardiance is the cause of decline.Tyranny is fiercer than a tiger.
