okay here's the thing, I'm currently 24 y.o. and working now, the thing is even at my age I'm still fond of watching cartoons, animes and other kid movies, I prefer watching these kind of shows rather than NEWS or actual movies/series...and I also love participating in COSPLAY events where in you get a chance to wear a costume of your favorite ANIME character which is fun...now my friends keep telling me that I need to grow up! that I'm so immature and acting like a kid for even liking those stuff at my age, I mean I can be mature if needed to depending on the situation... I'm just wondering if you guys out there still think the same thing? Happy myLotting!

I don't think you are childish and immature. You just maybe don't want to be too serious. I don't like watching news too and sometimes I still watch cartoons. Like what other people here said, it's not wrong if you are fond of cartoons.

I used to be an anime lover, but now, I think I'm more of a J-pop lover. I'm now more interested to the music than the anime.

I'm 19 and I'm not afraid to say that I absolutely love anime! As long as the anime is quality anime, then I believe that there's nothing wrong about loving it or wanting to cosplay it. It's actually quite fun... Some people just tend to think that way because since anime is Japanese animation meaning it's in 2D form, they begin to associate with American cartoons. Quite prejudiced of them but I suppose that's ignorance speaking. There are a lot of animes out there that are totally not for young audiences and have dark or serious themes despite having some bit of comedy to go along with them. As for news, I won't pretend to like news. It's okay and I admire the reporters for being able to do them but when we say news over here in this country where I live in, it's usually bad news and it gets more and more annoying to listen to them everyday. That's why I don't like watching news much. But yeah... I consider myself a mature person though I am aware that I still do have a lot of lessons I need to learn.

Also, I forgot to mention this but I used to hang out on an anime music forum and met a lot of people who like anime and the people in there are the most sensible, mature people I have ever met in the Internet. Quite a good contrast compared to the people I've met over on a game-related forum. Sadly, most of the people in that game-related forum are my fellow countrymen but whatever.

I know I answered this but forgot to add something. Most people probably don't realize this but the cartoon networks want us adults to watch their cartoons. Listen out next time you watch cartoons. They are always making jokes and references to things only an adult would get. Like this morning my girls are watching fan boy and chumchum and I hear one of the characters say "In the end there can be only one." No kid is going to know where that line came from.

I don't think maturity should mean you completely stop doing what you enjoy. I'm 33 and I love anime. I don't do the cosplay thing though but I love to see other people dressed up especially if they can play the character off very well. I love to watch Spongebob, I carly and Chowder with my girls and even when I'm by myself. Some people have the wrong idea about what it means to grow up.

I don't think that you are immature or something. If you like to watch cartoons and stuff, it doesn't really mean that you are childish. Everybody have their own likes and dislikes. So, why can't a grown up guy like to watch cartoons. You enjoy watching cartoons rather than news or movies, so whats the big deal. I really think that there is nothing childish in it. People think that it is childish to watch cartoons because they have kept telling from the past that cartoons are meant to be watched by kids and movies or serials by the adults. But actually, there is nothing like that!

Hello there... There is nothing wrong in watching cartoons etc at any age... Everyone has a choice and likes/dislikes... Nothing wrong with it! At 24, one is expected to behave maturedly and that is why, some people might think that you're being childish. The key is to perform your regular duties without any failure. If you spend more time with your hobbies and if that hampers your work, social life, family life then you might be called childish with many good reasons... So simply make sure that your stress-buster isn't damaging your regular life... And all will be well!!! Have a good time! Happy myLotting!

trbliw0--You say you have started working.I feel that your spending your pasttime is your own decision and if you choose to enjoy cartoons it is your prerogative. My son is a highly qualified person, a consultant who has long working hours and deadlines. He still would love to play some car games [races], watch Discovery channels, Animal planets, NatGeo, and Tom and Jerry. If he feels like unwinding it is his right. But in your case, if you have taken up your job right now and are in the process of making new friends, then you need to keep your favourites to yourself and do it in your solitary free time.Peers always would sit on judgement over newcomers and if your style is different then they would only criticise you.Once you prove yourself in yoor job and show that you are very smart they would speak differently.

I think It's a childish way to watch anime and cartoons. We grown up to watch anime when we are young. It's only a reflection of our childhood.Immature maybe but we are already matured to think w/c is the best for us.

Well friend, childishness is always a healthy part of life. Where you can stay out of being more serious. So being yourself and enjoying like a child is no harm. Be yourself and dont change yourself for others. And being matured depending on situation, so you dont have anything to worry, you are right way friend!

Hey i totally understand what your trying to say because i really love watching those kinds of shows too. Even im all grown up already i still like watching those animes and cartoons. And i have to agree that anybody can be mature enough when needed. And it doesnt follow that because you like watching cartoons then you cant respond to mature situations anymore ;)

For me, wearing costumes and the like is a childish way. There's nothing wrong with watching anime and cartoons. But I think participating in cosplay and the other stuffs like that should be handled with the kids, I mean with the little kids. cartoons and anime makes us feel entertain sometimes and some of the stories are really wonderful to watch but always remember that too much of it is not good anymore. Have a nice day!

I see nothing wrong in having an interest that is unusual, you will probably already realized there are lots of people like you who have hobbies and interests the same as you. As long as these interests are not interfering with normal adult life in other areas you should pursue your hobbies.

I'm 34 and i watch cartoon all the time and i consider it fun. I don't think a person can be classified as immature just because they're having fun.

There is nothing wrong with it. You are who you are, and you don't have to listen to people telling you what to do. Yeah, maybe it is a little immature, but you like it, that is what it matter. You may find something special from these cartoon and animation one day.

its a natural thing. even i had the same situation. i'm 26 yrs. old yet i rally like spending time on computer games, watching cartoons and anything toddler. but its natural. i can't stop watching it because its so funny. you're not being immature or childish your just being yourself.

Those guys that are telling you that you need to grow up are just haters. You do what you do to make yourself happy. I don't watch anime but I do play a lot of video games and a lot of them aren't even like mature games like Modern Warfare or anything like that.

i just started on mylot so i'm getting used to it now. i'm 21 and i like watching cartoons and kid movies. one reason is prolly cause i have a 2 yr old but i still like watching them. i don't think its immature or anything like that cause if it was then half the ppl would be immature cause if u think about it there is a lot of older ppl that still watch cartoon or kid movies.
