I laugh when this is the food that they need to eat in fear factor or reality shows challenges. In the Philippines, a lot will want to be in their place. Winning money for eating your favorite food. that's amazing!
On the negative side, these shows think that it is a challenge some of them thinks it is funny. For me, it is insulting. THis is part of culture. and it is very insulting that they threw up on TV when they watch it. Our culture is all we have, and if it not a big deal to them, just entertainment, but for us, it is who we are. IT is like they are mocking our culture. Its demeaning.

Balut? Who doesn't want to eat balut? No me, I love balut so much! Yeah, I know some of you might think that it's really gross, but hey, I love eating it. You see, some people would say that it's weird eating these things but this is already part of our culture, and being Filipinos we must accept the fact that it's already included in our list of exotic foods sold on street.

i saw this one... i'm not a balot eater myself... but yes, it was quite frustrating to think that these people made soo much faces in the show while eating it... hey, that's my country's food.. the least thing you could do is be polite, and not show it in international tv... ohhh weeelll...

also some people eat cats, dogs, and monkeys, but that would also gag me. our culture does not eat poor defenseless unborn baby chicks feathers and all, yes it is sickening to me, feathers, who wants to eat feather?sorry but this would make me ill. I like cooked chicken but not that balot, just plain nasty, why should this be insulting to you? it is all what we are used to,if I had b een born filipino I would have been brought up to like that balot but I was not and to me it is repulsive, but this is no disrespect to your culture.I am sure we eat things that you wou ld feel sickened at eating also.but I do not feel that you are mocking my culture or demeaning me. Hope I have not upset
you or made you feel disrespected. food is a really p ersonal thing and some can eat one thing while another would be sickened by it. In fact I know some filipinas that are also sickened at the idea of eating balot, food really is such a personal thing, some mexicans cannot stand hot peppers either but they do not feel they are disrespecting a culture who mostly eat hot hot chile peppers.,
