Catholic priest are not allowed to marry. But the bible tells us to love each other and love one another not really specifying what kind of love we need to share with each other. Can a catholic priest have a girlfriend or should I say companionship? Are they allowed to express love like the ones shared by couples not such marrying couples but boy or girl love? Can catholic priest have a girlfriend?

If catholic priest want to have a girlfriend or want a woman for companionship or they want to express love like the one shared by unmarried couples then of course they can do so. However, for that they will have to leave priesthood.

A priest is supposed to be married to the Church. Of course, a priest can have many good friends, some of whom he loves deeply, just as a married person may have many friends, but he will (if he honours his vows) be careful not to become emotionally or physically involved in the same way that boyfriends and girlfriends are.

I do not think they can even have girlfriends. Maybe if they were allowed to marry they would not find those alter boys so irresistible.
I think the whole do not marry is based on the vow of poverty they take. It is kind of hard to raise a family when you do not have any money. The whole girlfriend thing would be hard to, since at some point the two would start have certain felling towards each other.
