I was talking with my friend in Spain via the computer and he was having connection problems. He said his computer was playing with him and I said it was getting ready for Fool's Day. In the states April 1 is considered April Fool's Day, but in Spain Fool's Day is December 28. There are a number of other days that are celebrated in both places but at different times of the year such as Mother's and Father's day. It set me to thinking about the rest of the world and the days of celebration. Ok myLotters, is April Fool's day celebrated where you live? Here Mother's Day is in May and Father's Day is in June.

yeah, the fool's day is already here and we must start figure out some lies for our family members and friends. I love this day so much because it is maybe the funniest day during the whole year and the people on that day look really happier than usual that's why I like it so much!

LOL. I thought he did. LOL My daughter will probably have fun with it this year. Maybe not though, she seems not to be interested in anything that might hurt someone else.

April 1st is fools day (but, only in the morning... if you play a trick on someone after mid-day, you are the fool) Mothers Day is in March; Fathers Day in June; Grandparents day is in September

Canellita: There are usually a few bogus news stories across the media but I dont think its as big a deal as it used to be or, maybe its just that I'm not with the people who carry them out? Years ago, as my husband came down the stairs (it was a Saturday) I had the phone in my hand and was saying "I'll just get him..." I whispered that it was his (very demanding) boss & handed the phhone to him. He was saying "Hello, hello, Peter??" & I casually said, "Its April 1st...". I dont think he's forgiven me even now but, I said he should just have been glad the man hadn't rung. April: I think Grandparents day only got here about 20years ago, when my sons were young. We didnt have a day for grandparents whilst I was growing up.

That is interesting. I have never heard of it being a morning thing. I see you are in the UK. Are pranks popular? Grandparents day is in September in the U.S. as well.

haha, I've never heard of Grandparents day. Yeah,we ought to celebrate for our grandparents as well,it's very considerate. But in China there is a day for the old,in september according to the traditional Chinese calendar. April fool's day, Mothers day and fathers day are the same,I think they come from the tradition of western countries and then spread in east countries.

Luckily for me I don't have to leave home during most days to encounter crazy people except when I go to teach my class. All that tomfoolery would drive me nuts!

If I could come up with something clever it would be nice to fool my nieces and nephew or get them to help me trick their dad. I could get back at him for something he did when we were kids.

We celebrate April fools day too. On this day I am going to try and use a batch file that I made on someone, the batch file turns the computer off when it is turned on (it is reversible don't worry). This will be fun to do as I have been working on different batch files, I have finally perfected it. =) Hope you guys have an awesome April fools day, I know I will. =P

I think I will do it to my brother, only question is how to get it onto the computer. I will have to wait for him to leave the computer.

well the one that I know about for sure is that in Canada they have a different day for their Independence day not sure what the exact date is I believe they call it Canada Day there and it may be on July 1st not sure about that. I also believe that Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October if I am not mistaken those are the ones that I know about, because I have a friend that lives there and she had told me about that as previous to that I did not realize that we celebrated these holidays on different dates, but it is kinda nice to see how the different countries celebrate the holidays and on what different days we do. As for April Fools day as we call it here in the states I used to be the real jokester when I was younger, especially if I was talking one of my relatives on the phone on this day, but now the only joke I might say would be one that I'd like to come true like I won the lottery or something like that and that is a joke that I would like to come true.

Yes, I know about Canada Day. I did an article for Helium last year on making Canada Day crafts. It's funny how we grow out of stuff like April Fool's isn't it? What was funny when we were kids becomes an annoyance as we get older.

April fool's day is celebrated in our place. When we are small we use to make others fools and also we were made fools easily. Now as a grown up guy I don't Fools day seriously. But the day brings my old memories back and I spend hours recollecting those sweet memories. As you said Mother's day and father's day are same in our place.I think they are same all over the world.

Hi cane, yes we celebrate the april fool day on 1st april. Now, as we are going to be aged, we have lost those enjoyments of this day that we did in our teenage. We celebrate this day by making our teachers fool. That was not only one day, when we never punished for our naughty tasks. Have a nice day.

Yeah! I am really excited about fools day but I always have to be careful when making some jokes cause I have experienced it many times being scolded by my father for making jokes that are not really funny but annoying.

Yes, that is always the challenge isn't it? I find that most people are more annoying than they are funny, even when it is not fool's day!

April Fool's Day is not really being celebrated in my country as well. But people do occasionally play pranks on people specially on April 1st. It's more of an unofficial event.

Nah, we don't celebrate April Fool's Day here where I live. Thank God, because I hate practical jokes and I'd probably end up getting angry at a lot of people for playing tricks on me, if that's the case.

The time of the year that i dont like the most. I dont know i just dont like being fooled. Makes me feel bad, i do take jokes as well have some fun with friends, but just to do it because its like april fools day, i dont think its worth it. We can play along with our friends anyday we want. What im saying is we dont need a particular day to celebrate something not that worth at all ;) now if you like doing so, just make sure that you wont be hurting the feelings of the other person ;)

Jokes are one thing, but pranks are another matter and some people just take things too far. I don't blame you for not liking this time of year.

When I was a child my brother tried to fool me once by putting tabasco in my drink. I could smell it but I was not sure until I tasted it. I could have killed him!
