Which is worse, failing or never trying?

I always believed that you will never know your full potential until you at least try. It is really not the winning that should matter, but the experience. Just do not expect too much so that when you fail, the disappointment is not that great either. What do you think?

You never know what you have the potential to do unless you try, and if you don't try you are letting yourself down.

Failing is better than never trying at all. Something is better than nothing! So failing tells you how badly you like to achieve and how much you like it! So try confidently in the direction of your dream and live the life you have imagined after so many failures.

Many years ago I was collecting inspirational quotes, and one of the quotes that I wrote down in my notebook was thing one: "Try and fail, but don't fail to try" and I still believe in those words. I have failed many times, and of course I have been sad when things didn't go the way that I wished, but I still think that it is better to try. If I try I know that I have done everything that I could, and I don't have to wonder what would have been if I had tried. I have learned something from my failures and sometimes I have even been able to help others, because of my own experiences.

Failures are the stepping stones to success so you often needs to fail first before you can eventually succeed. Sometimes, it's only through your personal experience of the failures that you learn important lessons that no one can impart to you through the word of mouth. Such lessons are also invaluable part of life. Therefore, failure plays an important role in our lives. If you never even bother trying, there's nothing to be gained out of that, except myths that you are unable to do something just because you think you are unable to do it.

'Better to have failed trying than to have never tired at all' - That's one of my favorite quotes. There are things in life that are going to challenge us, things that you have to face head on and try. I don't want to be one of those people who gets old wishing they would have tried but never did becasue the fear of failure was too great. I don't want to have regrets or to be wondering what could have been. So, to answer your question; Try and keep trying.

I have to agree about that zashimi. Its bad that you fail but its worse that you never tried at all. For you will never know your true potential if you dont at least give it a try. Take it as a test for yourself, for you to know your limitations and for you to be able to work on them, so that next time you will know what to do. Be not afraid to try and fail, its a part of life, learning that is.Those who are afraid to even try are the ones left behind and rot in their old ways ;)

In life it matters that each person tries his or her best all the time. Sometimes learning something can be challenging but it is wise to keep trying. That is what I tell children that are finding it an uphill struggle to learn to read. It is excellent to achieve something after failing a few times. It is disappointing to quit at something and not to reach the full potential. I began learning to drive a car in 2002. I failed numerous driving tests in 2003 and 2004. I took up learning to drive again in 2006 but almost gave up without taking a test. I failed another test in November 2009. I was so delighted to finally pass my practical driving test in February 2010. Now I go out driving in my car every day.

I like one quotation "If you try you might fail, but if you do not try you will be definitely fail" by Jessy Jackson. So I guess never trying is worse than failing. This is the reason I would like to try and then fail, instead of not trying and then keep cursing myself that I might have been successful.

I'd have to agree with the notion that not trying is way way worse than failing. cause even if you fail, you'll still get something out of it.

I couldn't agree more. For me it's better to try and do what you can do rather than quitting and not even trying. Not all people are perfect. Everyone became who they are because of their own ups and downs in life. It's what the failing gives you the strength to become a better person.

Failed after trying is part of life. Learning from failures and doing the best to obtain success. Trying and failed give us challenge with ourself too. It is worth trying for, rather than feeling failed without trying at all. It is same like backing out without trying one step forward.

i think if you talk about which is worse then never trying is worse. as in this way you just accept that you cant do or accept your failure. i think it is better to try in any case. even if you are not capable but there are chances to win.

Of course that is worse to never try. When failing you own experience. If you never try you never experience things and its worst.
