Did anyone else hear the news? It seems that the Marines, (which by the way I have the upmost respect for them and all the other entities) are going to give gays seperate quarters! What do myLotters think of this??? It sounds like "seperate but equal" AGAIN????? ~G~

Again the gays are being treated differently. I would love to know what is the big deal? Why can't they be in the same quarters with everyone else? A gay man is not going to go after a straight guy. The gay men have all bunked with the straight men all these years why discriminate now? Its like how they separated the blacks from the whites back in the day. I'm sick of the direction this country is going. I feel like the country is going backwards instead of forward. What a damn shame.

Well, generally we afford women separate accommodation because it is argued they would not feel comfortable sharing with men and thus have a right to such privacy. Many women I know would state they would feel equally uncomfortable sharing with Lesbian woman and demand they had the same right of privacy with them. If that is a right for women then it is also a right for men all the best urban

Hi Urban, I respectfully disagree with you. Gay people don't bite! They're not out to get you or anyone else, I feel they're just like anyone else...Again and respectfully I feel like the writer above you..."This country is going backwards instead of forward...it can be compared to our US Census where they have added "negro" instead of just leaving African American!! Too late I found that in our U. S. Constitution it clearly states we do not have to use our names, all the census really needs is the # of people living at whatever address! Thank you Urban for your response:-) ~G~

So, if it is discrimination against gays to give them separate accommodation it follows that it is discrimination to give women separate accommodation and that should be scraped. Or are you saying that it is one law for one group and a different one for another, which is discrimination? all the best urban

I talked to one solder about this and his reply was let them serve but like women keep them out of my shower and bathroom. He went on to express concern of having some won watch him in the shower as if he were a se x object. He said it would be like a male going into the women's shower, he is not going to do anything to you but how would you feel with him watching you. You would have no objection to sitting down with the man at dinner or working beside him, but in the shower?

Why not? Women are given separate quarters. Officers are given separate quarters. Now straight men have separate quarters. Are they being discriminated against??
