A great physical and tactical battle between bayern and manu last night but manu is missing the flair at the centre with van bommel in great form.Gary neville is not capable holding ribery at bay and cause manu a lot of problem by clearing all those crosses.substituting park with berbatov doesnt do any good because berba is not the type of following and pressuring opposition because he is a striker and this cause the winning goal by Olic. The 2nd leg will surely be a different tactical battle since this match is won tactically by Bayern

Hi razim I agree with you that the tactical battle has been won by Bayern but it is not the end of the road for ManU..they are a very difficult team to beat in their home turf and they are also carrying the advantage of scoring an away goal which can easily turn out to be critical at the end if the second leg..it won't surprise me if Bayern meets the same fate as Milan did when they visited Old Trafford and lost to the host by 4 goals..the mistakes committed by Sir Alex will not be repeated and so Bayern will have their hands full. What do you think?

Yeah the part that manu is very difficult to beat at home is so true but im gonna say that its not going to be the same as Milan.Bayern is full of energetic, experienced, physical and wise players.I think its going to be a tough one for manu.they need to find a goal and Bayern will be looking to counter attack with the likes of ribery and robben. Its too close to call. With rooney is out injured,im gonna predict that bayern will go through to the semis.Sorry for the prediction. =)

Hi razim I think you should not be sorry for the prediction as we all have our favourite team..however I do agree with you that it will be a tough game for ManU and they are up against it..but we have seen Alex Furgusen and his boys come out of such situations in the past and there is no reason why they can't do it this time too..yes the loss of Rooney is going to heart them but I think they have enough firepower to go past Bayern in their home territory..It's true that Bayern will rely on counter attacks as they hold a slight advantage and they will go through if they don't concede a goal but too defensive mindset can be dangerous and so lets's wait and watch the outcome of the result.

Great match!
I thought ManU was going to win easyly after the shocker goal in the 2nd minute ... in fact Bayern did not come out of shock until the second half. They played much better and won, I think they just wanted it more ... and Olic was fantastic; he can't dribble if his life depended on it but he's always there, chasing the ball and never giving up. That's the spirit we should see more often!
If Rooney is out for the return game it will be a big handicap for ManU, however they have an away goal and that is not a small advantage.

I think Bayern dominated the match after the early Man U goal. Rooney scored even before we could blink our eyes. After that it was all Bayern, though Man U showed flashes of good moves here and there. Full marks to Olic for his running around the park, the last goal was a just reward for his hard work. For me the best Man U player on the pitch was Van der sar who prevented at least two clear cut chances for Bayern else they could have really run away with the match!!
Cheers!

Vandersar was in his superb form to keep manu on the run for the 2nd leg.Olic was superb and so did ribery eventhough he scored a deflected goal.He made it hard for gary neville and nani and also valencia. With ribery doing the same thing he did for the 2nd leg,Manu will be having trouble to attack from the right.Am hoping that Robben will be fit for the 2nd leg.

Hi razim,
It did not watch this match actually and have no idea on what exactly happen on the field. But this result would be a great result for Bayern Munich. They manage to won the game after being down 1-0 from an early minutes goal from Wayne Rooney.
It would definitely a war in the second leg because Manchester United only need a goal to progress base on away goal rules. The only problem now is their main goals getter was injured and could be out for the second leg in Old Trafford. Manchester United other striker was not in their true form. Dimitry Barbetov is not worth is price and a bit lazy. Manchester United need to use younger striker because Micheal Owen also out due to injury.

I think Alex Furgason would rely on his midfielder to deliver if Wayne Rooney is not fit for the second leg. They would try to hit from the distance especially if Paul Scholes played. Bayern Munich on the other hand would try to protect their one goal advantage and rely on counter attack.

It was a great pain to see manU losing a match after seven consecutive wins in all competitions. Vandersar played the match against bayern munich, rooney couldn't get to the nets after scoring the 2nd minute goal from Nani, who is in form these days. Ball possession was higher for Bayern because of their strong midfielders and a couple of miss passes from the united side. Looking at the play, Finishing 2-1 for Bayern was less than what they deserve and the credit goes to the United keeper again for saving a handsome number of goals. However, conceding a goal at the extra time, especially a losing goal is always hard to bear. And about Rooney limping off the field after the match worried me, because United will be needing him against Chelsea on Saturday and I want to see Rooney breaking the record of C. Ronaldo's 42 goals in a season.

yeah vandersar saved quite a number of chances to keep the tie alive.the physical presence bayern midfielders make it hard for manu to keep possesion.Manu needs to bounce back against chelsea but its hard to do that wothout rooney.i doubt berbatov can do his best against big and pacy chelsea defenders.

IT was an intense match.... I was hoping ManU would win but they no team can win with such a poor possession... Sad fact is that Rooney is injured and will be out for a week.. hope he returns on the return leg... Ribery was awesome as usual.. I hope Fergusson takes him in his team next season.. Nani was good that day... Hope Macheda can stand up2 the task.. Manu need to strengthen their defence in the return leg or they will have serious problem..

many experts said that ferguson made mistake when he change carrick with berbatov. MU should strengthen their defence when lead 0-1, but ferguson made terrible decision by strengthen their offence
