When you say "first"...possibly when you were a child that is...
We always have our "firsts" in our lives...
we had our first word that we have spoken...
we had our first walk...
and we you say walk and you do it into a graceful manner putting a music in it...that comes into a dance...
tell me, what is the first dance that you have learned?...
my first dance that i have learned is the waltz... of course... during my kindergarten years...all of us are first timers...so the teacher taught us to do the waltz...it's simply the basic dance step for you and your partner will just sway and move your feet left and right holding with your hands holding together...
which reminds me of my first crush...hahaha
never mind her...she already had a family of her own... ;)

The first dance I learned was the twist--yep, I'm OLD!! I remember how the older people were really shocked at it and, being a child, I didn't understand what was so bad about twisting.

hi brynnerson I also first learned to waltz but never did do
much dancing. this was of all things in an exercise class, then
we went on to other dance steps but I never did really go
out dancing. But I did go square dancing in my adult years
which was so much fun. My husband was not into dancing so
we never went out to dances. His religion w as horribly strict
and we finally started going to my own church which did not'
condemn any thing that was fun to do like the Adventists do.

Hi, the waltz was the first dance that I've learned everything for school celebrations, when I was a child, then, step by step I learned Latin, tango and other dances, because even I like to dance.
Although you made me smile with this question because I remember my first waltz partner, was 9 years old, like me, was 10 cm lower than me and was so excited, he was sanguine to face, sweat, .... and I was like a princess ...
