When the graduation speaker is being invited to give a talk to the graduates of that year, I think they should emphasize on telling them "welcome to the world of unemployment". This is a very common thing. There are over thousands of graduates every year but only hundreds become unemployed. Number of graduates are increasing from year to year but the number of job vacancies are decreasing. We really cant expect to get the job we always wanted. We'll just have to wait for some time. If your cousin wanted a job badly, she can actually get a job as an online english teacher or work in a call center. There are a lot of people doing that, including me. Though I have experienced working in a school as a school teacher, working online is better cause you are going to earn more. Tell your cousin not be be discouraged about that. Its normal. She just need to wait and gain experience.

yea its really hard to find job specially this days that the world is facing finacial crisis! here in the Philippines many graduates of college but they work with different areas and not align to the field they finish! for example graduate of BS Computer Science you will spot them on fast food restaurant, how sad the reality is!

it's true, it's so hard to find a job these days. although sometimes whenever I try and search for jobs in the internet, there are a lot of companies offering work. so I was thinking, is it really hard to find a job or are we just not finding the job we want?

I know how your cousin feels because I am graduating next week and have been looking for a job until I can start applying for teaching jobs. I was watching the news last night and unfortunately the governor decided to cut education spending again (he does this every year) which means that there will be no teaching jobs. I guess it is off to graduate school for me so I do not get burned out. I am so stressed out right now and as much as I love to learn, I feel like I need a break. Lately, things have been so hard on me and my husband that all we seem to do is argue and then I start to cry. I have not been sleeping too much lately.

Yea the economy is really bad right now, and job markets aren't exactly pushing like they used to. Though sometimes it's easier to get in to work then other times. So she does not have a job at all?

well qualifications do not guarantee anyone a job, the economy is bad at the minute and there's a lot of jobless people,
also a lot of graduates not saying your cousin is one of them expect to walk into a high paid job which just isn't the case everyone needs to start at the bottom and work up.
In these times I guess its experience that counts not that bit of paper.
