Telemarketing is my bread and butter. I live in a city where most people earn beacuse of telemarketing. I've been one of them. People or clients who we used to call don't really like us in a way. How can I say that? Because we keep bugging them with our products and services which I believe is somehow good. Others do listen to us. The good thing about it is they buy. Honestly if they wouldn't entertain the idea of telemarketing we would not be earning, right?

Telemarketers is not that easy. Are you inbound or outbound? Its very comfortable if you have the list of person that you can call up and asked or survey about your product. This particular job is good and would fit to the person who is outgoing and doesn't know how to be shy. It's good for them.

I know it's not! I've worked in inbound sales and right now I'm outbound doing something else. It's really almost the same since I'm calling. I know people who'll fit in this job description. When I was doing inbound/outbound sales there's pressure in work. Specially how many sales you get in a day. My concern is for the other party that we try to sell to. What do they think about us?

Alright, I've been in that position that someone sell something over the phone. I usually received a call for the insurance. For me in view, I find it more informative because they give us the best offer or deal in town. So far, the insurance that he sell me I find it more convenient and easy. I think being a telemarketers give us information more information about the products so its a one on one consultation thing. But if you end up with an oozy person good luck.

Well, I have kept my telephone numbers on the "Do Not Disturb" list so I do not get any more calls from telemarketers. If someone still does call I just politely tell them I am not interested. I do understand that they too are trying to do a job and earn a living so even if I am getting disturbed i am NEVER rude.

Hi appreciate the fact that you're never rude to telemarketers, and you know what Luacara, the next time a telemarketer calls you just inform them that you're on the Do not disturb list so that the company that person is working for can update their system. thanks.

Sorry but I don't like telemarketers at all.Don't take it personally but They always seem to call just when we are sitting down to dinner or in the middle of dinner. I would usually say no thank you and hangup, because if you let them start talking they will keep going on and on and you can't get a word in. I have since put my phone number on the "don't call registry" because I just can't be bothered with these unncessarily phone calls.

Of course, I don't take it personally. That's the reason it's called work. I apologize for the interrupted meals. I'm sure you won't be bothered again because you have registered your number from "do not call list".

Telemarketers on their own are not that bad. I mean, they are just doing a job, like anyone else. Therefore, they have to take what life gives them and granted, the position has a lot of negative feelings towards it. For good reason granted, that I will get to in a minute. However, each individual telemarketer is someone who needs to be judged on a case by case basis. However, there are telemarketers who have given everyone else in that business a bad rap. You know the people who call and despite the fact that you say that you are not interested, politely, they keep calling. They keep badgering you, keeping you on the line. It nears harassment at times. I'm not saying that all people in the telemarketing business are like that but the few that are, they tend to give all of you a bad name. I feel bad in many ways but really, that would be the case for any business.

I do get your point megamatt thanks. It's really hard to think about it on this position where personally you wouldn't really want that to happen to you. Sometimes your always on the edge of the morality issue on your personal beliefs in life on what should be the proper way to do it or the reality for you to do it because it's your job. Well I do really appreciate the fact that there's still a lot of people who understand the nature of the business.

Telemarketing is a very good job, but i heard it has lots of sufferings. As most of them dont like telemarketing calls and we show our anger faces to them. But it should be understood that they are also human beings and respect them. I salute your profession!

Thanks besthope44! I know that it's really annoying if you'll be receiving a lot of telemarketing calls in a day especially when you're doing something very important. and this job really needs a lot of patience because there will not pass a day that you wouldn't hear a client screaming on you because of you calling them. patience patience patience. ;)
