i like certain fantasy movies but n0t all of them. It depends on the plot and the story. Some of my favorites are Harry Potter movies, Twilight. But i dont like those with dragons, and the like. How about you? What are your favorite fantasy m0vies?

When we talk about fantasy movies The lord of the rings trilogy is definitely at the very top. Although it's hasn't strictly followed the book the movie is almost perfectly made with all the effects, with the very good cast, with perfect music, soundtrack and the overall atmosphere of the trilogy. I've watched the extended versions about 10 times or more and it never gets me bored. If we talk about sci-fi movies I think Armageddon is pretty good, also Star wars of course which is one of the greatest not only in the genre but in the movie industry.

Harry Potter, Twilight, or movies with dragons are not really sci-fi movies. They are fantasy. By the same token, movies with giant mutant bugs or zombies or killers with masks on, are horror movies. To me, sci-fi is hard sci-fi so it would include movies like Blade Runner, Alien, the Star Wars movies, or Total Recall. I think sci fi implies something that could reasonably happen although it might involve some assumptons that don't seem reasonable now (like faster than light travel). To me, there haven't been that many good sci fi movies lately because the writers usually screw up some of the science. You little things like having nois or fire in outer space or neglecting the difference in gravity on another planet or the moon (which they did in Total Recall). When it comes to bad science in sci fi movies, I actually like some of the '50's movies because the mistakes they made are laughable. With that said, I do like Harry Potter but I don't consider it sci fi.
