Facebook---is it really addicting?

I've got friends who say that they can spend a whole day using FB(Facebook) without even having lunch or dinner. As some people had also told me, it is addicting enough for them to forget/miss class or to change their schedules. But is this really true to most users or just to some who can't manage their time?

I'm not addict to facebook really. But, maybe My friend ya... Everyday, 24Hours, from her computer, her blackberry, her phone, SHE IS ALWAYS open facebook. Don't matter when or where. I don't know. Maybe she is crazy. FB is really great to communicate with friend or family, but if we use it 24Hours a day, hm... It's kinda weird for me...

Facebook, like so many social media outlets, allows for all personalities from the attention-seeking braggart to the fly-on-the-wall who merely likes to observe to the person who's simply bored at work to get their fulfillment of that aspect of themselves. Anything that provides fulfillment or entertainment can become addicting. So yes, Facebook can be addicting and I know a couple people who should be cut-off, but I'd bet the great majority have no problem leaving Facebook for a while to get lunch or dinner. I have found myself losing track of time while perusing through the lives of my friends and family... but I can't honestly say that I've ever missed a meal.

I think Facebook can be very addicting if you are involved in playing the games. It can really eats up your time. Initially I spent many hours just to keep up with the gifts. Now I have blocked some games and application and kept a few of my favorite games. Time management is important. I play only during my free time and will give priority to my other schedules. Happy Easter!

At first it was so addicting but unlike other site there is some kind tiring moment so I rest myself for a few days or else I swear I won't open it if I get used to it. Before I can't live without opening it but for now I just open it to see the wall of my friends.

From what I've been hearing? It's addictive. I use to play a few games and as they progressed they took up more time to play, and so...lost time. Not having time to log on to even check my FB mail, the games have been neglected, no real loss there :) my kids and fam need me more than a game.

Well of course it is addicting... And I think that it is to all persons who just can use it It has such many features that the addiction is understandable. All the games, fan clubs, friends and others. The number 1 reason why all are there is that all your friends use it

I don't find Facebook addictive. I have an iPhone which lets me check facebook whenever I want but I wouldn't say that I'm addicted. I check it morning and afternoon but aside from that not that often. I live in England and most of my family is in Australia so it is a good way to keep connected.

In the initial fase of my facebook experiments i found it very addictive. I was always watching the hours pass so i could see my Farm, feed my fish, cook some meals at my café, but then i realized it was always the same thing no matter how much content they would put. I wasnt gaining anything else rather than a low satisfaction that a game could provide, and it was a little time consuming so i decided to stop for a while. Nowadays i only check my account for new friends mostly, and about the games, i only check them when im patient enough, cause as i said its all the same rotine.

Its not addicting to me the only thing addicting to me is mylot. I find facebook is boring and not user friendly at all. I only go there when I get a message or to play a game that is it. Mylot is by far a much better site. The only other thing is on facebook you can sometimes find your friends or family if they have an account.

Well it is addicting on my part because this is where we meet with my long lost friends back in college and high school. But of course there should be a limitation. Know your limits, right? If a person is still studying it might affect their studies. Now for a mom like me, I should make sure that I don't compromise my kid's welfare, health and chores.

I think computers (internet) can be very addicting, Facebook especially so for the people who use apps. After I started seeing my home page filled up with others' game stats, I knew the apps weren't for me. I check daily and then jump right off before it sucks me in :) Time management and self discipline is necessary for anything internet related.

it only applies to those who are addicted to facebook. its one of the recent disease right now wherein you log-in more than 30 minutes everyday and you just wont stop until you get dizzy and fatigue after you logged in to facebook. facebook is fun but too much of it means trouble

I don't find my self addicted, even if they pay me. Technologies and network site is useful for us, but if we can't manage our time, it can ruin our life too. I hope this is just for temporary, and i hope your friend can get their life back.

Lots of people I know are addicted to Facebook, not to the extent that you're talking about but they have lost a lot of time doing things on Facebook when they should have been working on other things. Loads of websites and games can be just as addicting as Facebook. I'm not addicted to Facebook, in fact I only spend around two or three minutes there out of my whole week, but I've gotten stuck on other websites before. People just need to learn to prioritize and cut out the things that aren't really important.

Facebook is a great place to catch up with friends and family, so I check it at least twice a day. I imagine if you have a lot of friends and use a lot of the apps, it could be pretty absorbing. Since I have a full-time job, I don't have the time to play online as much as I'd like. Honestly, Facebook is probably about as addicting as T.V., surfing the Net, or anything else that provides an instant feel good fix.
