Christianity and Islam are considered missionary religions. Would you be upset if Christians or Muslims are able to persuade in a loving, peaceful, and gentle manner so much so that 99.99% Indian become Christian or Muslim? Would you also be equally upset if all Pakistanis become Hindu or Buddhist after gentle, loving and peaceful persuasion by Hindus or Buddhist? Personally I have no problem if the rest of my fellow citizen change their religion because certain religion has gently and lovingly persuaded them all to convert.

Hi headhunter, This topic is hot and can create bitterness in relation. To be frank i dont like that incidence when all indian converted into muslim or christian. Each religion have their own positive and negative points. I dont wana define here word negative becauase i dont study any religion throughly so cannot say this is negative in this religion. Here i say each religion are good but only because of your lack of knowledge towards your religion , you change your religion is not fair.so try to imbine what is good in your religion no need to leave it. I can understand why you don't like it. I appreciate your candid response. Some people have problem; some may not. Each person is different. My view is that even when the topic is hot it'll be nice if we can discuss things without being abusive. For me if I can't keep my tone in right pitch I prefer not to participate in the discussion. Thanks for posting. For your honest and mild response I am giving you BR.

I have also faced such situation. The fact is that as long as Muslims are in the world we will have to go through such situation. I think telling them not to believe such thing will be hopeless; it's rather like telling them to stop being a Muslim. If at all we want to tell them I think it's better that we reason things out with them and say why we believe the way we believe. Otherwise just telling them not to say such things will not really work. It's rooted in their theology so one cannot really change unless we go to the root. Have a nice day!

this is really a surprize for me to get BR.Ihave submitted my response after long time and get BR is really great.I have specified here it is hot because came through many incidence mostly of muslim who were telling me that muslim religion is great than hindu. Many times but i never argue with that person because it can create fire in discussion that is why i avoid this type of discussion. But here i can take care of my words to avoid bitterness. Have a nice time With Regards Ranvir chauhan

hi headhunter, I actually don't care what religion anyone chooses to be. When a person is not kind and loving then it is not the religion's fault but it is the person's fault. Some people use religion as a means of making excuses for their rude, mean and judgemental ways. They would still be the same rude mean and judgemental people even if they switched religions.

I agree with you to certain extent. But I have seen some people who are religionless and who used to be rude and angry but then change their conduct after they become religious. Well, for many that may not work, but I guess for some that works. Since people are different different formula works for different people. It's just that we leave them alone to make choices for themselves. That's my kind of view.

Hi, I am not a religious person, but I am also against any kind of conversion either through gentle, loving peaceful persuasion or more aggressive methods that are being used in many parts of India. If a person wants to convert because of some ideologies that is understandable, anything else is just not acceptable anywhere in the world...People give far too much importance to religion and that is the main problem that society is facing today.it is the root cause of all kinds of illegal and terrorist activities...

Okay. But don't you think religions are also also ideology? Only that religion will have rituals. Otherwise, I think, religion is very much an ideology. I am not convinced that religion is the root cause of all kinds of illegal and terrorist activities. For example, the so called terrorist activities we witness in Christian Nagaland or Hindu Manipur is not because of religion. Many people there thought that their land is being occupied by foreigner i.e India. And because they want such political oppressor to move out they argue that religion allows them to fight the oppressor. Whether their argument sounds logical or not is a different matter. But religion is not the actual reason here. Similar thing goes in Kashmir. If you take Maoist they are non-religious people. But they are also into terrorist activities. Well, for them one may argue it's politically driven. But similar is reason in other places too.

Thanks for the reply. I guess some people are going to be unhappy with your post... because some people like to dislike certain religion. You may agree with me that religion is there to serve the interest of humanity. So humanness should unite us all despite religious differences.

I see Hindus converting into atheism. I also see atheist converting into Islam. I see Muslim converting into Christianity. I see Christians converting into Hinduism... and so on and so on. There may be various reasons why people convert. But the reality is that people do convert. Hinduism is India's most common religion. But 50 or 80 years later things may change. It could be all becoming Hindus or it could be other way round.

it actually depends. even we know this is not possible but if it is ever possible then it depends on me whether i am in 99.99% people or not. if i am in them. then i think i dont have any problem but if i am not in them then i have obviously the problem because of this only i am in the rest of people

For me whether I am with the majority or not I would not have problem. I may change or I may not change but whatever it is I am okay. I leave it to the people. My only request is don't hate other religion and the followers... Let's live together.

Don't even dream about Pakistanis becoming Hindus. In fact, the Hindus there are dwindling every passing day. The rate at which conversions are happening in India, the day is not far when Hindus will become minority in their own country. This is definite. But I doubt where there will be 99.99% Christians or Muslims. Just see, 500 years of Christian rule could not achieve this. Before them, 500 years of Muslim rule could not convert Indian into a Islamic country. So, there is hope. But, discreet conversions are happening which is really disturbing.

My post was not about such things happening or not; but about our attitude. Since Pakistan is not a secular country like India it's complex. They can convert Christians or Hindus into Islam but the others are not given as much right as they have, and I think it's not fair. I think it should be open for all or ban it all. But banning it all is worse than opening it to all. 500 years of Christian rule is India, I think, is not true. The British discouraged missionary activities because they did not want to upset local rulers. And moreover technically their rule in India started only in 1857, and came to an end in 1947. So the rule lasted for just 90 years. Islam also did not rule the whole of India. It's just part of North India and South India. To the East the rule was not extended.
