asian beetle (fake ladybug) how do you kill it?

I have found beetle in windowsills,food,and plants. They smell, bite,pest in house and between the walls and annoy me. Makes me not enjoy spring. How did they get here?What is their purpose? Do they kill trees? How can you tell difference between them and ladybug? canola oil,garlic powder and dish soap in a windex spray bottle has anyone tried it? beetle trap? Why should I spray my house with poison toxic pesticides???? Has anyone found anything that works??? PLEASE SHARE SO I CAN GET RID OF MINE. THANKS
