Our 8-month old Shih Tzu is bleeding. Is she ready for mating?

I would not recommend breeding her until she is a full two years old. Smaller framed dogs often have complications with delivery and if she has not finished completely growing then this can increase the risk of complication. Also make sure you have her checked by your vet before breeding. The vet can do an utlra sound to make sure of her development and ability to carry a litter.

I don't think so, My vet say for small dog like yours you have to wait until 1,5 year or until his third loop. He say at they age his body already reach maturity and he ready to carry pups without result die in birth. Don't breeding her that soon and you should find the new puppy loving home before breeding it.

We have Shih tzu too. She is a 1 year old. She passed 2 bleeding or menstruation. My Shih-tzu is ready for mating because she passed 2 menstruation. How many times did your Shih tzu bleed? If it's 2, your shih tzu is ready for mating. That's what our veterinarian said. :)
