How are you spending Easter Sunday?

We don't have any really fabulous and elaborate plans for Easter, but we are going to go to my mother's house and spend the holiday with my side of the family.
The children will wake up on Easter morning to their baskets filled with all of the goodies that I've collected for them. They are going to be getting more small toys than candy because my daughter doesn't really like candy. Then we will try to go to church and then off to my mother's house. At her house we will have an Easter Egg Hunt for the four children (there are some eggs with toys for each of them and then candy and coin filled eggs). And this year for Easter dinner we are actually going to barbeque because the weather has been more like summer than spring this week.
Tell me, how is your family celebrating the holiday?

I will be spending a quite Easter morning alone. My husband had to make an emergency trip in to see his parents and my youngest step son is going to his mom's house. So that leaves me and my oldest step son. He will probably have to work because he is off tomorrow to visit with his mom. Then later on in the afternoon I will go to my uncles house for a gather with my mom & dad, aunts & uncles, sister and niece. We will have a great feast that my aunt has prepared and enjoy our family time together.
Happy Easter.

As odd as it might sound, I would quite enjoy to have a quiet morning alone. Did you have a great time spending the afternoon with your family?

We had a great visit. I enjoyed every minute of it. My oldest was able to make it to dinner so it was nice having him there also. Hope you had a good Easter also.

Definitely sounds like a yummy meal. I wish you would have invited me over. I love ribs, but ended up with hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats.

I am not a christian so it would just be a normal day for me. I always wondered what actually was Easter Day. And what importance do the easter eggs and easter bunny hold. Can some one care to enlighten me in this regard. I would be grateful.

Honestly, Easter is really about the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The traditions with the Easter Bunny and the eggs and such came along later as a way to celebrate the coming of spring. These things honestly don't have anything to do with the true reason for the holiday.

I'm going to spend Easter Sunday walking to services if it doesn't rain because I don't think God wants me to get pneumonia.

After that I will write, listen to the Bible for one hour, eat dinner (maybe at a Chinese place) and go look for my cat is he hasn't returned.

I hope that you were able to find your cat and I hope that you were able to make it to the service. I agree with you that I wouldn't have walked if it was raining though because getting pneumonia is definitely not any fun.

Sounds like you'll have a busy but fun Easter. As for me and my family....I'll probably spend the day just relaxing around my house, or maybe do some yardwork, want to get started on planning my new flowerbeds. My mom and dad will have a quiet Sunday, looking at the Sunday paper and watching tv. My youngest daughter and granddaughter, have several places to go Sunday, and a couple of Easter Egg hunts too. She is only 2, so while she'll have fun, she won't really understand what it's all about just yet. My oldest daughter will be on the road, she left this morning to head back to Virginia after visiting for a month here in Texas. She should be home sometime Sunday afternoon, early evening. Happy Easter

I would love to have the opportunity to work in my yard, but as of right now, that isn't something that we have either the time or the money to invest it. It is okay though because I know that there is going to come the time when we will be able to do whatever we want with our house.

Hi Doran,
WE will be spending the easter at home after attending the easter mass. Maybe we can take the kids to the mall for an easter celebrationor activities like easter egg hunting, picture-taken with easter bunny then eat out.
Happy Easter!

Let's see . . . tomorrow (day before) my daughter and I are going to color Easter eggs with a tie die coloring kit. And we're going to bake a cake and decorate it all spring-like to bring to my parents on Easter. If we have time, we'll go out to this local teacher's store where they have free arts and crafts on Saturdays - and they happen to be making bunny masks this weekend. We already made treat bags for the family and my daughter made cards all by herself for everyone. Sunday, my daughter will wake up to a bag of books . . . some of which she picked up at the book sale that had at the YMCA . . . others which she has no idea about will be a surprise. My daughter DOES like candy, so I didn't want to overdo on that part . . . I just bought a few items from Trader Joe's in which will go to the family basket to share. We'll probably do a plastic egg hunt in the morning. Then we'll head out to my parents house - my sister and her fiance should be there too. And I'm sure they'll have something waiting for the kids too!
Happy Easter to you and your family, dorannmwin!

It sounds like you had a very busy Easter weekend. We had a lot of things to do, but I don't think that our time was filled nearly as much as yours was.

It is important to go to church for the Easter holiday, but I also think that it is important to spend time with my family to celebrate as well.

I'm in college right now, and I'm not going back home.... It actually makes me feel bad. I havent seen my parents for a long time. kinda miss them.
The only reason i cant go back is that i dont have a car, and my brother has one but he is not going back this weekend. it sucks right?
Hope he will change his mind tomorrow. lol
have a nice easter!

I couldn't imagine not being able to spend Easter with my family. When I was in college we actually got a couple of days off for Easter because I went to a Catholic college so I did get to spend the holiday with my family every year.

It is always really cool when you get to celebrate a birthday on Easter. I had that wonderful opportunity last year for my birthday. And, we really did make a weekend out of it as well.

Wow, there were lots of people that had Easter birthdays this year. I think it is really neat when someone has the opportunity to celebrate their birthday on Easter. I've gotten to do it twice so far in my life, in 1998 when I turned 18 years old and again last year when I turned 29 years old.

hi dorannmwin well since my family only consists of myself in this boring retirement home and my son in his gov.sponsored apt so he can look for work, I will spend a quiet Sunday here as the activities director has been putting up Easter decorations for some sort of a half assed party which may be fun or not fun, if its like some she has done it will be over before its barely started. shes very new here and just learning the ropes so we shall see. we had a wonderful activities director who got pregnant with her sixth child and had to stop working a few months earlier as she was having problems with both blood sugar and high blood pressure, which is not good for having a baby. we surely do miss her so much.

It does sound like you miss her, but you are completely right that it is far more important to take care of herself and the baby. If we were closer, we would have at least stopped by for a visit with you.

I think I am going to start walking to work at about 5 in the morning, work until around 2 30 in the afternoon, then drive for 30mins to my wife's mother's house, and enjoy a great meal, in the company of her wonderful family. Then drive home, so I can start to walk to work at 430am the very next day.
Probably get a basket for my boy, he has been "taking" this Toy Story basket they have the WalMart.
With Appreciation.
