Dumped by friend

So,am confused right now and I need someone to help me make sense of this.I just got a shock email from a friend of mine that I have been dating,nothing serious.He is having problems at work and has been stressed and unhappy about it.I have my other problems aswell at the moment.So the email he wrote is to tell me that we should no longer see each other until we sort each ourselves out.So am confused,I thought friends were supposed to be helping one another in life,be together to support each other in good and bad times.Why am I beign dumped because I have problems?Or is it all nonesense and he just wants to move on?

Sounds like he wants to move on, maybe he got a little scared that things were getting too serious and he didn't know how to handle it. Maybe you should ask him if he just needed space to figure things out or if he is just wanting to move on. My ex sent me an email (we were living in the same house) that he was moving to a new house and he would be moving alone. Pretty clear, I didn't even respond, I started packing the next morning and making my own plans.
