Is youtube the new society police? And are you the judge?

Youtube - new society police - policing the society for extraordinary behaviors

Nowadays, it seems that if somebody does something out of the ordinary, and it gets caught on tape, we tend to broadcast it online for people to judge. And youtube is most of the time the medium of choice. I saw some youtube videos of streakers on sporting events. I felt like I was a judge and needed to express my opinion on something the youtube cops caught (on tape). Don't you feel that way? If you don't agree, what is youtube like then? What extraordinary behaviors have you seen in youtube? Are you comfortable being the judge?

Believe it or not Bounce I don't watch youtube. Once in awhile one of the boys will way lay me to see some things they think I will find really cool or funny, but I have never been to it myself. I think youtube is changing alot of lives, not all of them for the better, but those people could have avoided bad results by not being on youtube to begin with i suppose. I find I don't need to judge others, there always seems to be enough other people ready to do that.

I guess it's just part of the new generation. And being on youtube, or getting judge on youtube is just part of the norm. As soon as video-capture devices were made cheap and accessible to everybody, I guess this was the next logical step. And lives as you said are being changed! Thanks.

We can call ourselves judges for the reason that we also comment on youtube videos. I am a video uploader at youtube and I receive good and bad feedbacks. It will result into improvement if you take it positively.

That is one way of looking at it rene12. If you keep getting feedback, and you do it constructively for the improvement of your craft. My only concern are the people in these videos. I'm sure most of them didn't want to be caught on tape. And certainly did not want to be uploaded online. Thanks for the response.

I know that youtube has a lot of videos like the one you mentioned where you feel you need to be the judge, but to be honest I can not say that I have ever really came across any. I guess it's all in the way you search, when I go on youtube i search for music.

Though there is lots of fun to be found in youtube, lol, I just usually stick with the music though I have ventured into people's vlogs.

I guess you're right. If you go in there and specifically look for these kind of things, then you wouldn't be able to help yourself and judge. Thanks!

Yes, I do think that Youtube is the new medium for people to display themselves. I guess you have to watch what you say and do when you are outside because you don't know if there is someone around you that is holding a digital camera or cell phone that can tape you. Its weird that now the police and news media are posting videos to get help from the public too.

I guess that's the mentality of... if you can't beat them, join them! Instead of making competition with people with hand held cameras delivering up to the minute news, and even weird stuff, they just employ them. Sometimes without cost. Thanks nijolechu.
