How Can You Tell Someone Is Lying To You?

Lying has been around as long as the truth, be it little white lies to full-blown lies...starting with the Garden of Eden with Satan enticing and lying to Eve to take a bite from the fruit of the forbidden tree. And while lying has a rich history, it creates an atmosphere of mistrust, misconception, suspicion, and misgiving.
So how do we tell if we're being lied to?
1. Knowing his baseline behavior and how he normally talks which includes eye movements, conversational habits, and body language. Some says when one is lying, he cannot look at you right in the eye or turns his body away from you.
2. Look for signs like "freezing up" when talked to. People sometimes freeze when put on the spot. Physical expression is mostly stiff with few arm and hand movements.
3. Hands touching the face, neck, throat, and mouth. The one lying will not likely touch his chest/heart with an open hand.
I hope these tips will help you spot a liar. :)

Hi ajarvaise,
The eyes. It's all in the eyes which they say are the mirrors to your soul. Before asking the person any questions take a look at their pupils and make note of the size of them. Have them look you in the eye and ask away. If the person is lying, their pupils will get smaller. If they are telling the truth they will either stay the same or grow larger. A persons pupils will also grow larger if they like you. This method is next best thing to a lie detector.

hmmm...the pupils huh? I have never tried to look at a person's pupils before. I just look at the eyes. If they look away, it's a sign of discomfort and perhaps they are lying. Maybe I can experiment with this. Thank you for sharing this. I haven't really though about it. It's nice to know. :)

well you can tell by looking in someone's eyes and you can see if that person is lying,,i always believe that our eyes is the window of our soul and we can really tell if the person is guilty of lying or not,, we can tell if the person is telling the truth or not.

I think what you have laid out are quite true. In most cases, there is always some sort of discomfort and obvious body signs when a person is lying. But there are those who are probably good at it, that you will never see when he is lying or not.

I have found that some people are very good at making you believe their lies. yet others are not. One sure sign of a lie is when the person telling the lie will not look you in the eye. They say the eyes are the mirrors of the soul. Could there be some truth in this?

Sad to say but i dont even know when someone is lying or not at all.The thing bout me is that i believe most of the stuff that anybody is telling me, then later process if its for real or not based on the facts given to me.Maybe the main clue for someone whose lying is body language and check eye contact as well, someone whose having problems looking you in the eyes while tellin you something is more or less lying or not sincere at all

I think when a person telling lie then his/her face told.. that he/she is tell lie or not.. because when he/she do this then he/she has some hesitation on their face.. and also their eyes.. are afraid.. so i think.. this is some way to find a person.. that he/she is telling lie or not.. have a nice day and keep mylotting always..
