What programming language do you prefer?

Hello fellow programmers. Lets discuss the language you most like to program with and why. Me, I prefer BASIC over any of them, only because its the language I know best. I use visual basic 6.0 and Just BASIC v1.01. They are both really good for creating quality window apps with minimal headaches. I use a dev compiler and python too. But the rigamarole you have to go through just to make a window with c++, makes me want to use my trusty basic compilers first...

I prefer C++. it was the first language that I learned and I still prefer it. Besides C++, Java is not that bad either. But developing desktop applications is not possible in Java as per my knowledge.

I've heard that python is really popular at the moment. Any idea as to how it compares to the others? I'm considering learning it.
