Hi siliguri, we did like to use emergency light before when there was power failure. But later on we found its rechargeable battery was not durable. We had to take the trouble to charge it regularly. If we didn't do so, very often the light would become weaker and weaker very fast. And usually could hardly last until the power was restored as usual. Since then we prefer to use candle when come across blackout. Of course the candle light is not as bright as that of the emergency light. Anyway the good quality candle will last for quite a long time. We have kept enough stock for emergency use. There are various type of well designed candles with safety, heavy broad bottom trays available in the local hypermarket here Happy posting

The emergency light is costly in our place and that is why I uses candles. Some day I hope I might be able to buy solar emergency lamp so that I might be able to save some money in the electricity bill.

Other than igniting candle we would like to use light with rechargeable battery which I have mentioned above with its flaw during the very moment Compared to candle it's certain that emergency light is more convenient and handy. After I go for myLot search it's still affordable to get one. Or may be I would like to get one later for the convenience

candles are the cheapest thing you can use if the lights are out. so i say yes we still do though we have emergency lights and sometimes i use car battery and an inverter so we can watch tv and turn on the electric fan. since in our country a power cut off sometimes last for almost 8 hours. so we need to have a lot of source of energy not just lights.

I also think candle are cheapest way to use when the lights are off. We are going to have powercut one hour a day from Monday onwards and 30 minutes of it is at night. I am looking for using candles during those times.

The last time the power was out for two days we used candles until we borrowed a generator from a family member. We didn't have the generator but maybe a day when the power came back on. I was actually kind of excited to be mostly in the dark, I do not get bored without lights and power, it's exciting for me.

I think you should try to get some more candles in the future so that you can use them when the power is out. I am surprised to know that you do ot get bored when without power or lights.

Yes we still use candles. Although we have emergency light but there are times we forgot to recharge it. And I think candle lights are ok cause it is economical and we do not need it this much nowadays. But we have flashlights and lighters with led in it.

I also think candle lights are very economical. The good thing about the LED lights is that they consume less electricity than other bulbs.

The good thing about candles is that they are less costly and need not be recharged. I think the flashlights are little bit expensive and good to have for people who can afford it.

Well, haha, we don't have emergency lights so we still use candles nowadays. Why not? It's not old-fashioned or outdated in my opinion. Candles are essentials in times of emergencies. Plus it's cheap and easy to use.

For Birthdays only. ;o) We do no use candles during black outs; it also seems dangerous (and we have cats too, so even more risky). We just keep flashlights in drawers for this purpose. Otherwise, the only time we use candles are to celebrate someone's birthday with a cake, esp. with surprise birthday party cakes!

Hi siliguri, I am keeping candles at home in an easily reachable place even if there is darkness. We have an emergency light at home but it is not reliable at times. We are recharging the same everyday then also it can work only for 10 minutes. It is better to depend on candles instead of getting angry on the emergency lamp. We are taking the troubles to recharge the same then also it won’t help then what is the use. Fortunately the power cuts are less now and I don’t know when it creates troubles for us especially in this hot summer season.

Hi Siliguru, Yes my dear. WE still use candles during brownouts. that's very practical and we always have a stock on. of course we make sure that it will not put us at risk of fire. it's safely lighted and put off when go to sleep. we just have it in one place where all of us is aware where to get it when needed.

My occasion might be a little bit different because I do not have a candle nor a emergency light. And every time when there is power off, I would usually choose to go to bed and have a deep snap. Otherwise I might take my iphone to read some E-book or play games... haha...

In our modern society candle is treated as a romanic thing. it is servered as a tool in romanic night. so nowadays we seldom use it as light.

Well, I still use the candle if there is power failure. I know it is quite unsafe. But the important thing is to monitor it and never leave it unattended. Aside from that, I place the candle on a glass and in a stable place to insure that it will not fall.

We don't really have any kind of an electrical converter or inverter. But we should get a backup power generator to use. I don't really much like to use candles when there is a blackout. Because I am a clumsy person and might knock it down and cause a fire. So I just use a handy flashlight that I have at home in case of emergency.

As far as I am concerned, I think I will use the candles when the power is out. I think there is no other way for me to make a bright day . So in order to make the room more bright, I think the candle must be needed.

Well i was using candles at my young ages, but now we dont. We use emergency lights which are more convinient and automatic when there is a power cut. We planned for an inverter, but may be in near future.
