Hi Anurag, The standard and popularity that Microsoft achieved since Windows 98, came crashing down after they launched Vista. It had numerous bugs, used huge amount of resources and even then, the output was poor. Vista had better looks than XP, but Microsoft just seemed to have forgotten, it is ease of use and speed that mattered the most in an operating system. Vista started with a bang, but soon people realised that XP was a much more stable and reliable OS. Why would someone pay some Rs. 10000 just to get a slower and poorer performance? Vista destroyed Microsoft's reputation quite a lot, so they had to come up with something quickly. And they did. With Windows 7. It is a beauty and works great. It is just a combination of Vista and XP, with Vista's looks and and an improved performance over XP.

Windows Vista was not the first time that Microsoft has ever developed a faulty operating system. Though every time that a new operating system is first released, there are some slight problems with them that have to be corrected over the course of time and that is why they have the different service packs. However, with Vista, much like Windows ME before it, there were major issues that had to be overcame and I believe that is the reason that Windows 7 was launched so soon after its predecessor was released.

i ain't an it specialist , tested vista, didn't liked it, xp was still better by the time vista came up, xp was still more stable. there were rumours on the web that microsoft started developing win7 before vista launched. my guess is, microsoft replaced vista with win7 so early because they kinda knew it had flaws. and win7 rocks, started using it since the beta :D
